🌟 Volunteers of America-Texas | Continues to be one of the Mint Female Federal Bureau of Prisons programs nationwide. An initiative aimed at revolutionizing the reentry experience for women in federal custody. Here's why it's a game-changer: 1️⃣ Tailored Support: The Mint Program is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of women in federal custody. From trauma-informed care to gender-responsive programming, we're providing tailored support to help women thrive during and after incarceration. 2️⃣ Empowerment Through Education: Education is key to unlocking opportunities. That's why the Mint Program offers a wide range of educational opportunities, from GED classes to vocational training, empowering women to build brighter futures for themselves. 3️⃣ Comprehensive Reentry Services: Our program offers a comprehensive array of reentry services, including job placement assistance, housing support, and substance abuse treatment. By addressing the root causes of incarceration, we're helping women successfully reintegrate into society. 4️⃣ Community Engagement: We believe in the power of community. The Mint Program fosters connections between women in custody and community organizations, creating a support network that extends far beyond prison walls. 5️⃣ Promoting Rehabilitation and Reconciliation: At the heart of the Mint Program is a commitment to rehabilitation and reconciliation. By providing women with the tools and support they need to heal and grow, we're paving the way for brighter futures and stronger communities. 🌱 Women in prison are often the primary or sole caregivers of children prior to incarceration. For offenders who will give birth during their incarceration, there are two programs offered to assist these mothers before, during, and after childbirth; these include Mothers and Infants Together (MINT) and the Residential Parenting Program (RPP). The MINT Program is a community residential program that aims to assist offenders during pregnancy.
Big thanks to Pastors Matt and Melissa Forgey and the The Table Community Church for an incredible Mother’s Day for moms in our Mothers and Infants Nurturing Together (MINT) Program! MINT allows expectant women who are incarcerated the opportunity to prepare for birth and parenthood as they complete their jail sentences. Your donations of diapers, wipes, clothes, food, and devotionals mean so much. To help change the life of a baby in our MINT program, donate here > https://bit.ly/3UVB7bt

Exciting news in the philanthropy world! Renowned entrepreneur Dick Smith has made a generous commitment to donate his $300 energy rebate announced in the Federal Budget this week to the Salvation Army, urging fellow millionaires to follow suit. Dick Smith's message is clear and inspiring: "Not all of us need that money. There are millions of Australians that are doing OK. Donate the money to an important charity and that means the money won't be wasted." In a time where every little bit helps, this gesture of kindness demonstrates a powerful way to make a significant impact. This act of generosity can serve as a reminder of the impact we can have when we redirect resources to where they are most needed. So many Australian families, including kinship and foster care households face significant financial challenges daily. For carers, additional financial support really does go a long way, grants for the purchase of items for the children and young people in their care can mean the world, especially when the cost of living is so high. Through our fundraising at OzChild we can help with the costs of tutoring, counselling, car seats, and even prescription glasses for kids – practical items that make caring a little bit easier. But we can’t do that alone. No not-for-profit organisation can, we rely on the generosity of others to make it possible for us to help lighten the load for families. Let’s join forces to make a difference! I encourage everyone who can, to consider this impactful choice. Whether it’s a donation to the Salvation Army, OzChild or another charity close to your heart, let’s turn our rebates into a collective effort for good. #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #GivingBack #CommunitySupport

Sounds fun…
Our Houston Area volunteers teamed up with two of our Weatherford Walks charitable partners, Small Steps Nurturing Center and PTSD Foundation Of America, and dedicated their efforts to giving back to the local community! The One Weatherford Team had a fantastic experience as they rolled up their sleeves, cleaning up classrooms at Small Steps and assisting with garden maintenance at Camp Hope. A big thank you to our volunteers who participated in these events, and to our charitable partners for hosting us. We are looking forward to Weatherford Walks 2024! #OneWeatherford #WeatherfordWalks #Community #Volunteer #GivingBack

As I work to aid Charitable children institutions in transitioning towards family and community care, I often come across organizations dealing with children aging out of the care system. These children often lack independent living skills and encounter numerous obstacles, sometimes without supportive community networks. It's disheartening that they have to leave the system without the support and love of a family. Facilitating the search for suitable families for these children is crucial in ensuring their continued growth and well-being beyond institutional care. #carereform #familycare

Follow 'WEEN DREAM on Linkedin! For the past 10 years, WEEN DREAM has transformed the magic of Halloween into a reality for nearly 20,000 children across the United States. But this isn’t just about costumes—it’s about imagination, empowerment, and inclusion. Our amazing WEENSTERS, as we lovingly call them, face challenges far beyond what a child should endure. Many are battling illnesses that keep them indoors, navigating the uncertainty of foster care, overcoming disabilities, or living in financial hardship. For these children, a costume isn’t just fabric and thread—it’s a gateway to possibility. For a child who has spent months in a hospital bed, a princess gown can be a reminder that she is still royalty. For a little boy in a shelter, a superhero cape can give him the courage to face another day. For a child using a wheelchair, a custom-built costume can turn their chair into a rocket ship, a race car, or a chariot fit for a champion. Halloween is more than a holiday—it’s a moment where every child, no matter their circumstances, gets to dream without limits. It’s often the first time a child looks in the mirror and says, I could be an astronaut. A doctor. A firefighter. A warrior. And on this one special night, behind their masks, those dreams come to life. Providing costumes won’t save the world, but it will give a child hope, joy, and the belief that they are worthy of magic. It will remind them that they are seen, valued, and celebrated. And sometimes, that’s enough to change everything. 💜🎃✨ Because every child deserves a reason to dream. #halloween #costumes #charity #children #joy #fun #inclusion #creativity #imagination #spirit Amazon Wish List: https://lnkd.in/g6FM3G2w Monetary Donations: https://lnkd.in/gTEJ4XXq Donate Costumes: https://lnkd.in/gfZ49V3t Become a Ween Dream Partner: https://lnkd.in/gJHCi_bG weendream.org

As a pastor and dad of three young children, I understand the importance of teaching kids about generosity. Here are two actionable tips for parents to try right now: 1. Model Generosity: Children learn by example. Involve them in your charitable acts and discuss why you give and the impact it has on others. This helps them see generosity as a way of life. 2. Empower Their Giving: Encourage your children to choose causes they care about and contribute in their own way, whether through a "giving jar" or volunteering. This fosters a sense of responsibility and empathy.
