What an amazing week I had with hospital leaders from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula! What I know for sure… -The hospitals we met with are doing great things for the communities in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and the thousands of tourists utilizing their services. - Staffing, especially Med-Surg Adult nightshift, continues to be a struggle but the Chief Nursing Officers are doing wonderful things to recruit, retain and recharge nursing and other healthcare positions - Building your network will keep you strong and energized. When you get invited to lunch or dinner, understand it’s always more than just a meal, it’s an opportunity to connect, learn and share. - Taking time with your colleagues outside of the “office” is a wonderful way to build trust and collaboration. - Michigan is a beautiful state and I am so glad I live here! - We at Michigan Health & Hospital Association will continue to do our very best to listen to our members and advance the health of individuals and communities. Thanks to Lindsay P. and Lauren LaPine, MPH for being great partners and for your knowledge and expertise. Thanks to all of the hospital leaders that took time to speak with us and share. Thanks to MHA for allowing me the opportunity to share in the mission and vision of this great organization. It's heartening to see hospital leaders in Michigan's Upper Peninsula working together to address staffing challenges and build strong networks. The importance of taking time to connect with colleagues outside of work cannot be overstated, as it fosters trust and collaboration. What strategies have been most effective in recruiting and retaining nursing staff in these hospitals?

The team at Michigan Health & Hospital Association are great advocates for healthcare across our state. Not only are you busy lobbying in Lansing & D.C., but you also do so much to support individual hospital needs. #healthcarechampions
