📦 🌱 Can you imagine having #bioplastics with advanced properties for #packaging applications from the conversion of photosynthetic aquatic biomass, organic #waste and new chemical pathways? Kelsun™ fiber by Keel Labs has received the Hohenstein Environmental Impact Label, and is now a USDA Certified Biobased Product, and has been tested for its environmental impact during washing. Containing 100% USDA certified biobased content, Kelsun is free of petrochemicals and made with renewable ingredients. So, the same call has funded three projects on #recycling #biobased and #biodegradable plastics (#bioplastics), three innovation actions to scale up current technologies and validate them in the next 3-4 years. ReBioCycle is one of these, and they have recently shared some insights on their approach and methodology: Check this out! The other two projects are MoeBIOS EU and Prosper Bioplastics. Last week, I had the opportunity to talk about the importance of #certification at the Bioplastics Brazil conference, which brought together a large number of participants concerned by #bioplastics.   It was an opportunity to meet some of the certified South American companies, as well as a number of stakeholders in this huge country where compostability is becoming increasingly popular. An opportunity also to recall the agreement signed with ABICOM to promote the #OKcompost 𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗟 conformity mark combined with the Brazilian #NBR15448-2 #standard.   Thanks to Markeplan Feiras e Eventos and ABICOM - Associação Brasileira de Biopolímeros Compostáveis e Compostagem for organising this event, and all those who helped me discover a little of their country .
