Casals Ventilación will be present at the technical workshop “PREVENTION IN WINE AND CIDER PRODUCTION PROCESSES: Tufo and risks in temporary work”, organized as part of the EUSKADIPREBEN strategy. The event will take place tomorrow, September 13th, in Getaria. Along with other experts (Dräguer and Mayoral), we will discuss the crucial importance of ventilation systems in wineries and facilities where txakoli, cider, and beer are produced. Tufo (carbon dioxide gas), an invisible and odorless gas released during the alcoholic fermentation of the must, is extremely dangerous. It can cause loss of consciousness in less than a minute and, within just three minutes, can be fatal due to lack of oxygen. The same workshop took place on September 9th in Leioa (Bizkaia) and will be repeated in Getaria with the same content. 🔄 Proper ventilation is key to preventing tragedies and protecting workers.

♻️ Exciting News from Biotfy! ♻️ We’re thrilled to announce that our project, WasteReGen, has been selected as one of the TOP 10 finalists in this year’s LAQOthon competition! Did you know that over 118 million tonnes of organic waste are generated in the EU annually, but less than 40% is recycled? Most of this waste ends up in landfills, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and wasting valuable resources. That’s where our WasteReGen project comes in! Our innovative solution transforms organic waste into valuable resources by using black soldier fly (BSF) larvae. These larvae feed on organic waste and convert it into proteins and bio-oils. The proteins serve as sustainable animal feed, while the oils can be used to produce biodiesel and biopolymers. With a focus on maximum utilization, energy efficiency, and scalability, WasteReGen offers a practical, sustainable solution for urban centers and the food industry. In fact, we’ve already developed a test site in Zoo Zagreb to prove its potential! This recognition as a finalist inspires us to continue innovating and tackling meaningful challenges. We can’t wait to present WasteReGen at the #BugFutureShow and share its potential to revolutionize bio-waste management. Through many discussions with the GFI-APAC team over the past several months we have identified numerous synergies between what our organisations are hoping to achieve in Australia and across the APAC region. We’ve increasingly observed that the challenges and opportunities facing the sector in Australia are often regionally relevant, and vice versa. So, working together with GFI APAC will help us amplify our impact and achieve greater coordination of efforts. 🤝 With Australia’s strong trade connections to Asia and a growing appetite for alternative proteins, the broader APAC region is significant for the Australian cellular agriculture sector. Our initial collaboration will focus on projects including: 🔬 Uncovering research white spaces to provide a clear, up-to-date snapshot of the R&D trajectory for alt proteins across APAC. 🗣️ Industry engagement to align on preferred nomenclature and messaging for the APAC precision fermentation ecosystem. This partnership is a fantastic means of establishing a two-way dialogue between the cellular agriculture ecosystem in Australia and across the APAC region. Ultimately, we believe that working together will enable both of our organisations to elevate our positive impact and strengthen the APAC cellular agriculture and alternative protein ecosystems.
