The picture shows the bacterium that accompanied us at our trade fair two weeks ago. My daughter Janina Snaidr is wearing the costume, and it was great fun! Daughter as a bacterium? This combination makes more sense than you might think at first. Microbiology is my life. Ever since I saw a colony of the luminescent bacteria Vibrio fischeri for the first time during a practical course at university, I have been driven by the idea of working with microorganisms. This drive led to the founding of vermicon AG in 1997 and the founding of Magnospira GmbH & Co. KG 20 years later. While the former company focuses on industrial applications, the latter aims to inform consumers about the benefits of microorganisms. For me, the idea of a family business was the driving force. Building up a company for a few years and then selling it may work for many, but for me, it was out of the question. “Corporations think in years, family businesses think in generations.” I heard this saying many years ago at an event organized by a family business, and there is a lot of truth in it. Family businesses are not about making a quick profit. Rather, it is about combining passion with vision, customer needs with sustainability, and planning with patience. A family business IS like a family. Not only because many family members work in it, but because the atmosphere in the entire team is always familiar and friendly—even in stressful times. A family business is also inextricably linked to your own family and is often the dominant topic at the dinner table. My children were able to learn from the very beginning what it means to take responsibility and take risks. They were able to experience how important it is to be passionate about a vision. They saw successes and defeats and a never-ending mountain of work. Work-life balance—we don't know this term. Work is life and vice versa. Both are one and a real joy. The famous Stoic Seneca said: “It is not because it is difficult that we do not dare to do it, but because we do not dare to do it that it is difficult.” Sometimes you have to act without having planned everything down to the last detail. Jumping without a parachute. That's why I was delighted when my second daughter Laura Snaidr joined me in the management of Magnospira GmbH & Co. KG in January 2024. The daughter as a bacterium? Yes, of course, because bacteria are my family too. And always will be. #bacteria #microorganisms #familybusiness

6 days to SSW – 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 #𝟮𝟵𝟳𝟮 - Solabia Nutrition in Vegas! 6️⃣ Next in this highlight reel: 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🪴 In the run up to Vegas, I will be sharing awesome features, updates and highlights from Solabia Nutrition. As we have an amazing international team, a comprehensive portfolio of health ingredients and great technology, there is a lot to share! “𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻” – in our plant in the Arava desert 🌵 , we turned infertile land into a high-tech plant for growing Haematococcus Pluvialis. This microalga is known for its ability to produce 𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘅𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻, a powerful anti-oxidant, which it uses to protect itself from stressful environmental conditions. ⭕ 🧬 In our plant, we have been able to mimic natural H. Pluvialis growth, in a delicately controlled 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 in the desert. 🧪 This technique and location of growing limits the exposure of the algae to harmful external contaminants and provides stable climate conditions year round (the algae need plenty of sunlight!). ☀️ 𝗔𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗲® is a crucial product in our range, as it’s such a versatile ingredient. It can be used for so many health benefits – with a positive influence at 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹, the benefits are ubiquitous – eye, skin, immune benefits and more! 👁️ 👶 🤧 Watch the video to discover the story of life! #SupplySideWest #SolabiaNutrition #SolabiaGroup #Algatech #Algatechnologies #Microalga #Microalgae #HaemotococcusPluvialis #AstaPure #Astaxanthin Solabia Group Solabia-Algatech Nutrition https://lnkd.in/eVRztMQc

We had the privilege of being an exhibitor at TUMCREATE’s #TFOODS Conference 2024—it was an eye-opener for the team. As a newly established CREATE program funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF), the Centre for Precision Fermentation and Sustainability (#PreFerS), we were excited to engage with like-minded professionals and key industry leaders and, most of all, to learn how we can further contribute our expertise to #futurefoods. Kudos to TUMCREATE for planning an impactful conference, and we look forward to more meaningful conversations and exchanges such as this. 💡Post-conference reflections: Ideas do not exist in a vacuum; collaboration is the key to successful research. While #plantbased products are not a new innovation, there is committed research and development in refining and addressing the commercialization and production of other #alternativeproteins. As such, close collaborations with commercial key players (big or small), research institutions, academia, and industry leaders from different disciplines and expertise through shared understanding can best deliver consumers nutritious, delicious, and accessible food 🍽️ Nonetheless, with the growing support and funding from the government, organizations, and fellow practitioners, we envision a better, #sustainable future for generations to come. TOP 5 TAKEAWAYS from SupplySide West 2024! A huge thank you to the team at Informa for hosting our favorite show of the year—it just keeps getting better! From kicking off the week with top-notch education sessions to diving into all the excitement on the show floor, this year's event was unforgettable. Here are my top takeaways: 🎓 Education matters. The sessions this year offered incredible insights, sparking ideas and strategies that will shape the industry moving forward. 🌟 A variety of trends stole the show. In past years, we’ve seen dominant themes like mushrooms, CBD, or gut health everywhere. This year, it was refreshing to see innovation heading in so many directions, offering something for everyone. 📈 Protein prices are rising, but where there are challenges, there’s also room for innovation—brands willing to differentiate can still win big. 🦠 Gut health continues to grow. Functional probiotics like V Nella are driving innovation, and the International Probiotics Association (IPA) is expanding its influence globally, highlighting the continued momentum in this space. 🤝 Collaboration is everything. The XPO NRG project was a standout example of what happens when industry leaders come together to create something truly disruptive and fun. What do you think will be the next big thing at Natural Products Expo West? Share your thoughts below—I’d love to hear where you think the industry is headed next! We are excited to announce the launch of our new project, Plant Power Profiling (PPP), funded by KIEM MV, in collaboration with ProVeg Nederland, Snakeware, the University of Groningen, and Hanzehogeschool! Shifting from animal-based to plant-based proteins is crucial for reducing carbon footprints, improving public health, and ensuring the fair use of resources. However, many Dutch consumers still depend heavily on animal products. Through this project, we aim to develop insights into effective communication tools that encourage plant-based consumption among diverse target audiences. Our project supports supermarkets and food brands in tailoring their messaging about plant-based products to specific consumer groups. Our goal is to develop communication strategies that resonate with different target groups. With these, the Plant Power Profiling project strives to accelerate the transition to a more ethical, sustainable, and healthier diet throughout the Netherlands 💚 John Hoeks Rob van Haren Pablo Moleman Toine Dinkelberg Jildau Stoelwinder Lisan Lesscher NHL Stenden Nationaal Regieorgaan Praktijkgericht Onderzoek SIA

Those who know New Hope Network know that we love to help natural product companies tell their stories. To share their mission and goals, aspirations and achievements—stories that imply high standards. After all, good intentions are important, but it’s our shared vision and commitment to integrity and transparency that make them real and relevant. With more natural products on the shelves than ever before, and some new product innovation fueled by disruption and reinvention, the conversation around transparency is more important than ever. Who sets the standards, selects the vocabulary and validates the integrity of claims? What paths should we embrace to feed a growing population sustainably? And how can we help foster that dialogue?
