Vitamin B12 Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) is a water soluble vitamin and a synthetic compound of vitamin B12 used to treat vitamin deficiencies. Vitamin B12 is important to maintain metabolism health, and blood cells to treat and prevent low blood levels. Chronic vitamin B12 deficiency may result in anemia. Vitamin B12 deficiency pregnancy; may result in adverse pregnancy outcome such as low birth weight, protein birth and megaloblastic anemia. Cyanocobalamin can be either (Rx, OTC). Food enriched in vitamin B12 are Bananas, meat and dairy, if you are a vegan: plant- based meats and milks. Using Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) with chloramphenicol or Omeprazole may cause an increased risk of certain side effects. If both medicines are prescribed together, drug dosing or timing of usage is expedient. Vitamin B12 is present in human milk and poses minimal risk to the infant when used during lactation (breastfeeding).
