iSelect Fund Portfolio Spotlight: Harpe Bio A recent Forbes article featuring Harpe Bio, "A New Tactic For The War With Weeds," highlights the urgent need for sustainable weed control solutions due to increasing herbicide resistance. Harpe Bioherbicide Solutions, Inc. has developed a novel method using natural chemicals derived from mint species to combat this issue. Their approach not only restores the efficacy of key herbicides but also leverages the Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) status of mint-derived chemicals, streamlining regulatory approval. This innovation, led by scientists Manish Bansal and Randall Hess, focuses on combining mint extracts with herbicides, showing promising results in overcoming weed resistance. The integration of advanced spraying technologies further enhances this natural, eco-friendly solution. Harpe Bio's experienced leadership, including COO Daniel Pepitone, bolsters the development and success of this approach. Join the discussion on the decarbonization of fertilizers and food for a greener future! 💚 Decarbonizing #fertilizers by using clean hydrogen in ammonia production has the potential to significantly contribute to the #decarbonization of the agri-food value chain without impacting farming practices. At the same time, in most Member States, #ammonia production represents a very large share of domestic #hydrogen use. Therefore, transforming fertilizer production can act as an accelerator of the clean hydrogen market. Fostering a common understanding amongst European decision-makers and stakeholders from the agri-food value chain will contribute to fully unlocking these opportunities. This is what the conference, “Nurturing a Greener Future by Decarbonizing Fertilizers and Food”, co-hosted by Innovation Norway, is all about! 🙌 Learn more from the EU Commission, farmers' associations and other companies in the agri-food sector! 📅 15th April, 13:00-18:30 CET 📍 Thon Hotel EU (Brussels) Register here to attend this in-person event. The growth and success of Brazilian #biocontrol is genuinely remarkable. It is an excellent example of what The World Bioprotection Forum has initiated with its regulatory campaign in the United Kingdom, which looks promising. Although Brazil's government has been the driving force behind this change, other governments can take similar steps that could be equally beneficial. We are only starting to understand the potential of agricultural biologicals, but there is still a long way to go. Therefore, we must work together and support WBF in its efforts to reform #biopesticides regulations globally, which will positively impact both humans and the planet. Let's connect, collaborate and innovate biocontrol for sustainable and safer food production. Say NO to #pesticides and synthetic fertilisers. Dr Minshad Ansari Sarah H. 📢 Revolutionary Biofungicide Field Trials Begin in Europe 🌱 Belgian AgTech company, Biotalys, has started field trials for its second biofungicide program, BioFun-6. The biofungicide is developed using the company's Agrobody technology platform, which creates protein-based alternatives to chemical pesticides. BioFun-6 targets crop pathogens in high-value fruits and vegetables and will undergo field testing in Europe, with results expected by the end of the year. Biotalys aims to build a strong pipeline of biofungicides and bioinsecticides to support sustainable agricultural practices. #BioprocessUpdates #Biotalys #fieldtesting #biofungicide #AgTech #Agrobodytechnology #proteinbasedalternatives #chemicalpesticides #crop pathogens #highvaluefruits #vegetables #Europe #sustainableagriculture #fieldtrials #bioinsecticides #strongpipeline ▷ Read the full article here: 📎 https://lnkd.in/dK5BZUkD

Assessing the impacts of pesticides on the environment and human health to accelerate the transition towards more sustainable plant protection.
Transitioning away from synthetic pesticide use: success stories!💡 We have developed 12 NEW factsheets about initiatives from across Europe which have transitioned away from a reliance on synthetic #pesticides. The factsheets, developed by Dr Charlotte-Anne Chivers, Honor Mackley Ward, and Jane Mills of Countryside and Community Research Institute, are based on extensive research carried out by our case study site partners from across Europe, Ana Frelih Larsen, Antonia Riedel, Josselin Rouillard and others at Ecologic Institute (full deliverable report coming soon!). The research identified five key dimensions for supporting a transition away from synthetic #pesticide reliance: 1) Overcoming financial barriers 2) Agronomic change 3) Policy & Institutional support 4) Knowledge exchange 5) Social relations Read and share: https://lnkd.in/gZ8VzCNP

Regardless of your base of operations, if people are talking about biologicals, they are talking about Brazil. In 2023, DunhamTrimmer LLC was invited to give presentations in the Americas, Europe, and India. In every case, people were asking us the same thing: “What is going on with biologicals in Brazil? How can we replicate that here?” Read more from DunhamTrimmer COO & Partner Rick Melnick in a recent issue of ABG Direct: https://lnkd.in/g3SW_EDk #Agribusiness #LATAM #Agrochemicals #CropProtection
