The Importance of Digital Literacy in the 21st Century The 21st century is undeniably the Digital Age. Technology permeates every aspect of our lives, from communication and education to business and entertainment. As such, digital literacy—the ability to effectively use and understand digital technology—has become an essential skill for individuals of all ages. Digital literacy has emerged as an indispensable skill, transcending traditional academic boundaries. It empowers individuals to navigate the digital landscape confidently, access information critically, and contribute meaningfully to the digital world. As the CEO of Tech-Savvy Teacher International and a Microsoft Global Certified Educator, I am passionate about equipping teachers with the tools and knowledge to foster digital literacy among their students. Our Microsoft-certified educator training program is designed to bridge the gap between technology and pedagogy. By providing teachers with a deep understanding of digital tools and their effective integration into the classroom, we empower them to create engaging and interactive learning experiences. Our training focuses on developing essential digital literacy skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity. By investing in teacher training and development, we can create a generation of digitally competent students who are prepared to thrive in the 21st century. Let’s work together to build a digitally inclusive and empowered Africa. #digital literacy #education #teachertraining #MicrosoftCertifiedEducator #techintegration #21stcenturyskills #Africa #Nigeria

Recently we celebrated World Youth Skills Day. This day emphasises the critical role that young people play in facing global challenges such as conflicts, economic disparity, and online polarisation. More than ever, the ability of youth to promote sustainable development, justice, and peace is contingent on their skills and knowledge. However, to do this effectively, our young people need to be equipped with the right set of skills. Some considerations are: 👉🏻 Adding AI, Data Science, and Digital Literacy to school curriculums to prepare students for a digital future. 👉🏻 Motivating young people to join training programs for new skills to meet job market changes. 👉🏻 Supporting knowledge sharing and real-life learning to tackle real-world challenges effectively. The theme of the day encourages the acquisition of these skills; and using those skills for sustainable development, peace, and creating responsible global citizens. How can we ensure that our youth are well-prepared to tackle these challenges and contribute meaningfully to our society?
