I was at Microsoft when Active Directory was struggling to be released (Jim Allchin moved us all at MTB). Nobody better understands the scale of a truly global identity capability.
I've been in the Identity space since 1994. I was part of a consulting team that delivered two production customers featured when Active Directory launched in 2000 (Steve Brown, Steve Christian, Jeff Harding, who else??).
This is bigger.
This is a game changer. #Entra redefines Identity. Just like Active Directory. Just like Azure Active Directory. Nobody else can do this.
For those that criticize the folks at Microsoft Security about all the great security stuff that they don't get for free...
Every organization has a different risk tolerance. Nobody has exactly the same apps and use cases. The reason Security isn't free is that we all share responsibility, and sometimes Customer A doesn't want to pay for that part Customer B desperately need. This is going to meet a lot of desperate and disparate needs. It's also going to cause every other identity vendor to seriously invest in this kind of disruptive innovation.
(Plus it could kill VPN, which seriously needs to die.)
Who else can handle 300m attacks per day? https://lnkd.in/g-TVXGCf
It all starts with #zerotrust -- using #identity as the tip of your spear.
Congrats Harish, Mark and all the other folks, and a big thank you.
