A few weeks ago, our CARES crew joined United Way Quad Cities in a record-breaking volunteer turnout for their annual Day of Caring. Our volunteers got to work, traveling out to the Amowa Forest Preserve in East Moline, Illinois, to remove invasive species for Living Lands & Waters. Their efforts were even featured on KWQC TV-6 News! Check it out: https://bit.ly/3QpnE93

🌊What does the ocean mean to you?🌊 For the last few hours of World Ocean Day 2024, let's take a moment to think about the services our blue planet provides for us. For me, completing university on the Cornish coastline meant having a soothing blue haven on my doorstep, to recover from the challenges of university life, to connect with nature, and spend many happy evenings on the beach with friends listening to the sound of the waves. In fact, the ocean is scientifically proven to improve mental health in humans. Looking further afield, in our troubled climate, the ocean takes most of the impact for us. Heatwaves would hit much harder if the sea didn't store as much thermal energy as it does. Tsunamis would be far more damaging if it weren't for coral reefs and mangroves absorbing wave energy. These impacts might be a little hard to imagine, especially if they're far from home. So take a moment to think, what does the ocean offer to you? How do you feel when you're by the sea? Let's keep forging a strong connection between people and the ocean, to celebrate and safeguard our blue planet. #WorldOceanDay

Today, on #WorldOceanDay 🌊 , why not find out more about all we're doing and how you can get involved. From volunteering to making good seafood choices, everyone can help make a difference. Dear grant funders; let's simplify the process! 🙌 The complexity of grant applications can be a barrier for many organizations. Streamlining and clarifying the process can make funding more accessible and impactful. Streamlining the application and proposal development process will enable you to truly support meaningful initiatives without unnecessary obstacles. If you need help, contact C.A. Mayer Consulting and we will audit your process to determine what can be streamlined and how. www.camayerconsulting.com #SimplifyGrants #AccessibleFunding #ImpactfulInitiatives
Hey National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, if you need eleven pages, a separate indirect cost calculation document, and a degree in business to explain your budget form, it’s too complicated! Complicated applications advantage large, well-established organizations, and disadvantage anyone small, new, under-resourced, or just pressed for time! We say #CrappyFundingPractice! Got crappy funders? Tell us about them here! https://lnkd.in/gStX7dBd

Noisy, destructive off-road vehicles are threatening a fragile population of coastal martens in Oregon. Will you take a few seconds to help these shy carnivores? Only about 400 coastal martens remain on Earth, with about 70 of them living in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Despite the risks to martens, every summer the U.S. Forest Service allows thousands of off-road vehicles in their dunes habitat. The dangers are highest during large riding events, which the Forest Service still welcomes to the Oregon Dunes. Even worse, the Forest Service is poised to allow even *more* of these events this year. Take action: Tell the Forest Service to stop letting off-road vehicle events imperil rare coastal martens. We'll make sure they get your comment. https://bit.ly/3WvIXtd
