Meet Evie, one of our partner landowners and an advocate for renewable energy! She hosts three of our wind turbines on her 160-acre farm in Iowa. The annual lease payments helped her keep the family farm operable and chip away at farm debt, all while helping to generate clean wind energy for Iowans! Unfortunately — and ironically — it looks like the wind energy business could be repeating the mistakes of the Pennsylvania oil drillers, leaving the public with a legacy that is equally challenging for society. If wind farm operators are to avoid creating an environmental and economic disaster in the longer term, they need to begin factoring realistic maintenance and decommissioning costs into their projections. https://lnkd.in/eXPNn9jK #offshorewind #climatechange

Coastal residents recognize the power of offshore wind energy and want the industry to continue to grow and deliver for their local communities. According to a new poll released by Climate Nexus and Turn Forward, the majority of U.S. coastal county residents support offshore wind development and support remains high when asked about offshore wind construction near where they live. Reasons for support include wind energy supporting U.S. energy independence, energy reliability, jobs, and the economy. https://hubs.ly/Q02kncdc0

Next week March 5th, the US First Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments from lawyers representing fishermen who have raised concerns about the Vineyard Wind project, the pioneering utility-scale offshore wind energy initiative in the United States. Despite already generating renewable energy, opponents persist in their efforts to halt the project. Interestingly, the fishermen are represented by lawyers from the Texas Public Policy Foundation, working on broader debates surrounding energy policy and renewable versus fossil fuel sources. 🏗️💡 #RenewableEnergy #OffshoreWind #VineyardWind #EnergyTransition

🌬️ It's good to see that work on the £10bn Norfolk Boreas wind farm off the coast of Cromer could resume after ministers agreed to a 66% increase in the amount they'll pay for offshore electricity generation. Last year, Swedish company Vattenfall paused work on the windfarm, as no bidders came forward for the offshore contracts as the energy companies thought the price was too low. Wind farms off the East Anglian coast currently produce 43% of England's wind power; it's expected that figure will grow with more developments in the pipeline.
