I wholeheartedly agree with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that while poverty itself is not a new issue, the resources, technology, and collective will we possess today give us unprecedented means to combat it. In America, we have the wealth and infrastructure to ensure every citizen has access to basic needs like healthcare, education, and affordable housing. On a global scale, innovations in agriculture, communication, and social policy have the potential to eradicate poverty, yet systemic barriers and inequality continue to hold millions back.
