Early funding is so critical for those on the frontlines of the fight for democracy, since it enables them to make strategic short-and-long-term plans for the election cycle; but so often these organizations don't see the funding they need until the last minute. Tides is joining Democracy Fund's call for #AllByApril to get early funding to these leaders. We'll do our job so they can do their job. #2024 #democracy
“We ALWAYS outraise our projections. But we’re not confident enough early in the year to scale up quickly enough.” When we speak with leaders working to get out and protect the vote—like James Hayes of Ohio Voice, shown here from a panel hosted by Tides Foundation’s Healthy Democracy Fund—their message is clear. Early funding makes more possible. That’s why we’re joining Democracy Fund and others in a pledge to move all that we can to protect free, fair, and representative elections by April. Nonprofits are giving their all to protect democracy. Funders can too. Join us: AllByApril.org #AllByApril

The Role of Super PACs in Modern Political Campaigns A top Super PAC supporting Vice President Kamala Harris, the American Bridge 21st Century, has been making headlines with its significant fundraising efforts. The PAC has garnered substantial donations, including a notable contribution of $1 million from George Soros, underscoring the influence of wealthy donors in today's political landscape. Super PACs have become pivotal in shaping electoral outcomes, often funding extensive advertising campaigns and grassroots efforts. However, their reliance on large donations raises questions about the balance of power in political discourse and the potential for disproportionate influence by a few wealthy individuals. As we look ahead to upcoming elections, it is crucial to reflect on the impact of Super PACs and the role of money in politics. Ensuring a fair and transparent political process is essential for maintaining public trust and a healthy democracy. #PoliticalCampaigns #SuperPACs #CampaignFinance #TransparencyInPolitics

Top-line metrics are often used to measure fundraising success, but we think that view is too narrow. We believe that donor full-cycle value should serve as the new frame through which we evaluate political fundraising success in 2024 and beyond. Read why👇

Civic groups across the United States work to reduce barriers to voting, combat misinformation, and protect the rights of Americans throughout the election process—but they can’t do it alone. Early funding is essential. That’s why we’re joining with other leading philanthropies to call on other funders to pledge to move nonpartisan election funds faster wherever possible. This will allow grantee organizations to have the resources they need. Our grantees and our democracy will be stronger for it: AllByApril.org #AllByApril

Happy President’s Day! In addition to celebrating the accomplishments of past presidents, it’s also a reminder – if you really needed one 😊 – that we’re in a presidential election year. Twenty-seven states are holding primaries next month, with the big one being Super Tuesday on March 5. Many northeastern states follow with primaries between early April and early June. The Republican convention is July 15 through 18. Democrats take their turn August 19 through 22, and it all culminates on November 5, election day. So why do you care? First and foremost, because you’re a citizen and get to exercise your part in our great democracy. But put on your direct response fundraiser’s hat, and you’ll note another reason to care: Political advertising in the mailbox and online is a huge distraction from your nonprofit’s fundraising, and you’d be wise to give extra thought to timing your communications and fundraising initiatives. If you're in need of guidance or assistance in navigating the special challenges of fundraising in an election year, our team of experts is here to help. Reach out today, and let's collaborate to ensure your campaigns cut through the noise! #NonprofitSupport #ElectionYear #DirectmailMarketing #NonprofitFundraising

Today is National Voter Registration Day, and I want to take a moment to encourage everyone to make sure they're registered and ready to vote. Voting is one of the most important ways we can have a real impact on the future of our communities. It’s not just about big national elections—local elections play a huge role in shaping our everyday lives. Whether it's decisions about schools, public safety, or even the roads we drive on, your vote directly influences the direction we go. No matter where you stand politically, I believe that showing up to vote is the key. So please, take a few minutes to check your registration or register at vote.org. Vote.org is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people exercise their right to vote by making the registration process easier and more accessible. The platform allows users to check their voter registration status, register to vote, request absentee ballots, build a voting plan with sample ballots, and find their polling location—all in one place! The cherry on top? 🍒 It's mobile device 📱 friendly. 🎉 For those of you who, much like me, often feel as though they have too much to do and too little time — I personally timed the process to check my voter registration... 25 seconds. ⏰ 😉 Your voice and your vote matters! Please join me in sharing this message to help ensure that ALL of our voices are heard. #NationalVoterRegistrationDay #YourVoteYourVoice
