A Self congratulatory post for me as I quietly celebrate 30 years in the truck industry. No continued service with one company to be recognised just the advancing years and creaky back serving as a reminder! 10th August 1994 saw a 16yr old me starting as a Technical apprentice for Volvo Trucks UK, apprenticeships had had a rebirth recently and I was on the ‘Modern’ scheme. Good job….things moved quick and I saw some huge leaps in technology, seeing off Drum brakes for Disc, Manual for Auto, Analogue for Digital. Euro 1-4 and the introduction of SCR and EGR in just the first 15 years alone! Time with MAN Truck & Bus UK saw in Euro 5 and when I saw what a Euro 6 engine (combined EGR and SCR) looked like I knew it was time to trade the overalls for a suit and offer that experience in a number of supporting management roles. All of the advancements in technology were met with resistance along the years, the latest weak argument put up is Mirrors vs DAF Direct Vision System. – #nocontest, the improved view to front is worth it alone! It’s eye watering how quick time flies, although nothing made the eyes water like the exhaust plume of a Euro 0 truck on start up!....So no matter how we look back on the industry in the last 30 years we should be grateful for the advancements in emissions! What next?......No time to wait for Euro 7, lets just call it ZERO emissions….embrace the future of Electric Vehicles and do it with the manufacturer I chose to work with when drawing on my 30 years of industry knowledge! DAF Trucks UK Ltd. #batteryelectricvehicles #Zeroemissions #futureisnow #Experiencetellsme #Cleanair

📢Check this out from Autobody News!📢 The collision repair industry is struggling with a severe shortage of skilled labor. As veteran technicians retire, the gap between the number of qualified workers and industry needs grows. This issue is exacerbated by the lack of new talent entering the field, partly because many young people are either unaware of the opportunities or view the profession as unappealing. To address this, strong support for post-secondary education is crucial. Training programs can help draw new talent by offering clear career paths, competitive salaries, and advancement opportunities. Collaborations between educational institutions and industry players can make these programs more relevant and enticing. Internships, apprenticeships, and hands-on training can provide practical experience, making graduates more attractive to potential employers. # Autobodynews #CollisionRepair #CareerOpportunities #FutureTechnicians *Please like and Share our Posts!! https://lnkd.in/eZ-zwa8s

Trucking in Europe v. Trucking in the West It’s a topic dad and I talk about quite a bit. And there are many differences between trucking in Europe and trucking in America. First and foremost: the design. The European truck manufacturers choose cab over design for many reasons. How long the drivers drive. Dense population areas. Length restrictions. Road types. Traffic. But the most important difference is the training put in place for Professional Drivers. When my dad wanted to become a Professional Driver, he had to go to school. School meant for transportation technicians and experts. His 3 year program was split between theory and internship. Theory consisted of learning all the ins and outs of transportation. Complaince. Fuel efficiency. Defensive Driving. Adverse weather driving. And he even learned about the materials that make up a road. And the internship portion initially consisted of learning about the mechanics. He spent nearly a year as an apprentice in a heavy duty shop. Then he did city driving. Then some team driving. And after all that, he was hired as a long-haul truck driver ready to go throughout all of EU. In my 25 years that I’ve known dad, he was in one accident and one accident only. I can’t tell you how many miles that is but I’d let your imagination do the work. How much different would trucking be in Canada/USA if we had this type of training for Professional Drivers? Not limited to but Mladen, Nurf, Aleks, what do you fellas think? #dailygrowth #logisticsmanagement

I am exited to share my 7th Project during internship at Trainity Project Overview: - The automotive industry is highly competitive and continuously evolving, driven by consumer preferences, technological advancements, and regulatory changes. Understanding the impact of various car features on price and profitability is crucial for manufacturers, marketers, and stakeholders. Key features such as horsepower, fuel efficiency (MPG), car brand, and additional attributes like safety ratings, technological integrations, and design elements can significantly influence a car's market value and profitability. #AdvanceExcel #Internship #ExploratoryDataAnalysis #RegressionAnalysis

Sales Engineer at Midway Tool & Abrasives, and Chief Inspiration Officer at LifesPositiveLane • Believer • ✝️ • Family Man • Inspiration Influencer
How many people get to live a career where your career literally touches most everything that the American people use, ride in, fly in, work with, play with, or protect with? For over 40 years, in my “day job”, I’ve been in sales, but not just sales of one product, but rather sales of Industrial tooling that manufacturing uses to make things, fix things, and create things that every person touches each day…..literally! Could be products that go into aerospace, or farming, or vehicles of all kinds, military weapons, brewing, etc. we work side by side with those that help make America great. We help the #AmericanManufacturing industry to be more productive in whatever their needs are and we do it with advanced technical tools, technical support of those tools, ideas and processes to do things quicker and in a more productive, more economical way….we help those who are making America great. We are a support team to greatness. For the last 15 years I’ve done that with Midway who in itself has continued to grow, get better, become more advanced in what we do. With so many different divisions now of Midway and with so many ways we can be of help, we literally, literally, touch EVERY facet of American Manufacturing….and we’re damn proud to be who we are. American Manufacturing has to continue to get better. I’ve seen numerous small manufacturing companies that I call on who have embraced young people in attracting them to opening their eyes to a rewarding career in “creating” incredible things in manufacturing each and every day. College isn’t for everyone…but there are other ways to advance yourself if you’re a person with drive and ambition who has a desire to learn (through apprenticeship programs) how to be a part of something that is incredibly rewarding. You CAN build a career being “in the trades”. You CAN support a family by being “in the trades”. You CAN help American Manufacturing survive and continue to be a thing to be admired. Midway Industrial, Tool & Abrasive….helping American Manufacturing each and every day. Helping the American people each and every day. God Bless America! 🇺🇸 #Midway #AskYourMidwayRep #AnericanManufacturing #LoveWhatIDo #PositiveLane Stay Positive Make A Difference Each Day Believe You Can

Wherever you're going, we have a car for that! Take a look at this article highlighting the top 10 best cars for graduates, with the #NissanVersa making the list! 40 years ago this week I moved 500miles from home to Coventry to start my career at Austin Rover as a graduate trainee in Product Development at Canley. It was exciting times and I had a passion to try to do my bit for the UK Automotive sector. Not long after starting we were introduced to Warwick University and learned the opportunities through academia and industry working closer. Later I enjoyed various training courses at Arden House and the ATC (Advanced Technology Centre) where in the early 90’s we wrote a paper titled 2020 Vision on trends in automotive (we didn’t see the electric revolution!) Yesterday, I visited both the APC and WMG again to see how things have changed and discuss how to work even closer together to move the dial in UK car design and manufacture. What’s changed you could ask? In some ways not a lot - engineers solving the problems of the day with always insufficient funding. In others we have moved a long way. Today, lots of pieces of the jigsaw are there. In the UK we have innovations and manufacturing solutions we can implement and we have the people who can do it. We do, however, need to break out of that very British habit of being modest and start shouting about our capabilities to get the backing it deserves from the investment community. Governments have been supporting innovation and now look like there are green shoots of thinking towards longer term strategic industrial strategy. To me though, right now, it still looks easier to innovate here in the UK then export the thinking and implement the industrialisation bit somewhere else in the World. We need to right that issue soon!
