Executive Officer | Studied theoretical physics. Now into cost-effective automation with robots, IsaacSim, TwinCAT3, and control (MPC, Manifold).
It seems that the AI-driven boom in the stock market has cooled down. There are concerns about the profitability of generative AI due to excessive investment. As someone who has already experienced the incredible productivity improvements brought about by generative AI, this feels strange. For example, ① during due diligence, analyzing 1,000 PDFs in a day, ② in development, integrating Ubuntu, IsaacSim, ROS2, Drake, and CasADi, and ③ in following advanced technologies, aiding the understanding of research papers on robot control based on Riemannian geometry. I believe generative AI is already a guaranteed success, so I’m now focusing on what comes next in robotics. However, it seems that venture capital funding isn't flowing as much now. Humanoid robots are also gaining significant attention, but I feel there's no need to insist on humanoid forms for industrial applications. Rather, I'd like to apply the underactuated technology currently used in humanoid robots to 6-axis or 7-axis systems to achieve thorough cost reduction. The foundation for this isn’t yet fully established, so I want to address that somehow. Best, Yoshi

Daily AI Digest 📰🤖: Stanhope AI Raises £2.3m for AI that Teaches Machines to Make Human-Like Decisions Stanhope AI, a company applying neuroscience research to AI, has secured £2.3m in seed funding. Led by the UCL Technology Fund, the funding round also saw participation from Creator Fund, MMC Ventures, Moonfire Ventures, Rockmount Capital, and angel investors. Stanhope AI's technology is based on the neuroscience principle of Active Inference, which allows their AI models to continuously update their "internal models of the world" and make human-like decisions. The company's technology is being tested with delivery drones and autonomous machines, with potential applications in manufacturing, industrial robotics, and embodied AI. From a small business owner's perspective, Stanhope AI's advancements in AI technology hold great promise. The ability to teach machines to make human-like decisions opens up new possibilities for automation and efficiency. This technology could greatly impact industries such as manufacturing, where autonomous machines can adapt and learn in real-time. It's exciting to see the intersection of neuroscience and AI, and the potential for AI systems that can think and decide like humans. Credit: Duncan MacRae

Harnessing Robotics and Autonomous Systems to Solve Real-World Challenges | Driving Innovation for Enhanced Efficiency and Impact
I believe that technology start-ups often reach a point of maximum efficiency in delivering their product or service well before they acquire $100 million in funding. If you look at start-ups you're familiar with, you'll likely find that many, if not all, achieved early success on a relatively modest budget compared to what Figure AI raised. Considering the valuation attached to Figure AI, it's reasonable to conclude that Hyundai acquired Boston Dynamics at a bargain price.

German and european industries and automotive manufacturers this is one more serious 'Wake Up Call' concerning mass market maturity of humanoid robots for private use! 15.04.2024 Armed with more than $750 million in funding, Brett Adcock vows that Figure will become one of the most important businesses in the world. First, there is a lot of work to do. Adcock, the 38-year-old founder and CEO of robot maker Figure, is riding high. In January, the company announced a collaboration with BMW, with the goal of putting Figure’s robots to work at the German automaker’s Spartanburg, South Carolina manufacturing plant. Six weeks later, Figure raised $675 million at a $2.6 billion valuation from the likes of Microsoft, Nvidia, OpenAI Startup Fund and Jeff Bezos. At the same time, Figure signed a collaboration agreement with OpenAI to develop next generation AI models for humanoid robots. The valuation makes Adcock, who owns about 50% of the Sunnyvale, California company, a new billionaire. With his Figure stake and shares from a previous startup, he’s worth an estimated $1.4 billion. Even with all the money in the world, success is not assured. 0:00 Intro 0:35 Who is Brett Adcock? 1:45 Building the Figure Team 2:18 What Makes Figure Different? 3: 16 Figure 01 Demonstration 4:44 Training Humanoids 6:47 The Future of Robots Source Forbes: https://lnkd.in/eVsxiu7Y
