Hupac Group Intermodal Forum: „Together against the “reversed modal-shift”! 🔝💪 ELP recently participated in the Hupac Group Intermodal Forum in Lugano, discussing "Transforming Intermodal Transport: Innovations for the Future of Logistics." The event was extremely informative, featuring great speakers and panels eager to reshape the future of rail freight. We emphasize the input from Peter Füglistaler, Director of the Swiss Federal Office of Transport: “We want to give rail freight the chance to become sustainably profitable. Switzerland has invested heavily in projects like the Lötschberg, Gotthard, and Ceneri base tunnels, the 4-metre corridor, and expanding terminal capacities. These initiatives position Switzerland as a role model for Europe in supporting the modal shift.” As a Swiss company, we strive to enhance the modal shift from road to rail and are proud to contribute to the “Swiss Benchmark.” Our locomotives support this transformation by offering up to 50% more tractive effort, enabling longer and heavier freight trains to operate more efficiently. 👏 European Loc Pool "Passion for Traction" #railways #freight #innovation #sustainability #cargo

The first intermodal transport through the terminal in Świnoujście – a new era of logistics has become a reality! History is being made before our eyes – the Ferry Terminal in Świnoujście has received its first intermodal train with trailers, and we, Galan Logistics, had the honor of being part of this groundbreaking event. This is not only a success for the logistics industry but also proof that modern solutions in logistics truly work. 💡 What does intermodal transport mean? For those unfamiliar: intermodal transport involves using different modes of transport – road, rail, and sea – without the need to reload the cargo itself. It is not only a significant logistical simplification but also a solution aligned with sustainable development and the EU’s CO₂ emission reduction goals. How did it work in practice? ➡️ 8 trailers were delivered by road to Świnoujście. ➡️ Transshipment onto rail wagons and transportation to Silesia. ➡️ Unloading, reloading, and returning to Świnoujście. ➡️ Final stage: loading onto ferries and transporting to ports in Sweden and Denmark. The entire operation was the result of close collaboration between our teams and partners, including Freightliner PL. Each stage was meticulously planned and executed, and the results speak for themselves: a 76% reduction in CO₂ emissions and more efficient use of resources. 💬 As our CEO, Konrad Gałan, stated: “Intermodal transport is the future of the industry. It is not only a response to logistical challenges but also proof that ecology and efficiency can go hand in hand. Today, we demonstrated that Galan Logistics is ready to meet market expectations and set new standards in transport.” Why is this important? Intermodal transport means fewer trucks on the road, less congestion, better living conditions for roadside communities, and significant environmental savings. It is also the future we are building together, combining innovation with everyday operations. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our employees and partners for their commitment and professionalism. This is just the beginning – more intermodal transports are already in the pipeline. Galan Logistics – Connecting Continents, Creating the Future! #IntermodalTransport #GalanLogistics #Sustainability #Świnoujście #ModernLogistics

The road to InnoTrans 2024… part 2. Remember, it is a marathon, not a sprint 😉 ⏪ InnoTrans 2014 ⭐ Growing orders. A Desiro City train was on display for the announcement of our Thameslink train order in the UK. At €1.8bn, it was Siemens’ largest ever order in the UK and we would go on to deliver 1,140 rail carriages, which offered 50% more capacity. It included two world-class depots offering long-term service and maintenance with predictive maintenance and digital monitoring. ⏪ InnoTrans 2016 ⭐ Mireo: THE regional and commuter platform! The success of our Desiro led to the development of its little brother the Mireo. We called it ‘Intelligence on Rails’ at the time, and if I could go back, I would add ‘sustainability, and flexibility.’ The modular approach has gone on to be hugely popular and available in various formats and alternative drives to match local needs. Other highlights from the event included the Velaro for Turkey, and the C2 Metro for Munich. 🤝 The year after InnoTrans 2016 we acquired Hacon, signaling our move into software to fuel our digitalization growth further. #TransformMobilityForEveryone #TeamSiemens #InnoTrans2024
