Excited to share that I completed the Women's Leadership Program this summer from the Yale SOM Executive Education / Yale School of Management. I had the priviledge to participate in an insightful leadership roundtable discussions hosted by Bett Global and HP earlier this year in London, UK together with education leaders around the world. The last 10 years in education have been some of the most challenging. With a projected gap of 44 million teachers worldwide by 2030, we need to act now to build better education, globally. The statistics are staggering but behind the numbers lie stories of resilience, passion and unwavering dedication from our incredible global education community.    In the face of these challenges, what is the world doing to support educators and champion global equity in education? This white paper delves into this critical question. Good governance of Academy Trusts is of vital importance for the future of education and the wellbeing and success of our children. Trusts vary in size and in their management structure, therefore the roles of the CEO and Chair can in practice be nuanced from one Trust to the next. That is why our Schools Practice is currently researching the relationship between CEOs and Chairs in Academy Trusts, so that we can identify and share what good practise looks like within Trust leadership. Professional Certification in Education Abroad is for anyone currently in or considering a career in education abroad.

University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved new guidelines for a Leadership Development Program for Higher Education Institutions, focusing on a holistic approach to blend artistry and science in leadership. The guidelines underscore the importance of mentorship, continuous learning, and understanding the unique dynamics within each institution. Recommendations include integrating leadership systems with personal development through succession planning, cohort-based programs, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to build a strong leadership pipeline. The objective is to cultivate academic leaders capable of steering institutions towards sustainable growth and future readiness in the modern educational ecosystem. The intervention aims to create an ecosystem of practicing leadership that prepares faculty and students alike through capacity building. Emphasizing the need for faculty and non-faculty members to develop leadership skills, the guidelines stress the importance of diversified skill sets including teaching, research, mentoring, coaching, and administration to foster holistic institutions. These guidelines serve to equip individuals within higher education institutions to contribute effectively towards broader goals, ensuring readiness for the evolving demands of the modern workplace. Trauma-informed leadership has long been a focus of mine and a key aspect of how I approach higher education leadership, and I was thrilled to bring this topic to EdUp Accreditation Insights with hosts Laurie Shanderson, PhD, FACHE, and Leamor Kahanov. Thank you both for inviting me and for such an enriching conversation! It was truly an amazing experience. In this episode, we explore insights from my article, Building Resilient Leadership in Higher Education: Merging Trauma-Informed Practices with Key Presidential Competencies. My perspective on trauma-informed practices was deeply influenced by work I undertook with colleagues (Amy Rutstein-Riley, Jeffrey Meriwether, PhD FRHistS, Kimberly Lawler-Sagarin, Jon Ayabe, and Anna M. Fallon) in the AALI Senior Leadership Academy, where we connected these concepts to essential leadership competencies. It was inspiring to see how our project aligns with the recent study by Kevin R. McClure and Jorge Burmicky, Ph.D., which underscores key competencies of presidents and senior leaders often embrace to navigate the challenges and headwinds they face today. We delve into how modern higher education leaders can foster resilience, manage trauma-aware practices, and develop strategies to handle the complexities of academia. It was also a privilege to discuss how accrediting bodies can support these approaches, providing leaders with the tools they need to build inclusive, forward-looking institutions. The South Africa Youth Summit (SAYS) is a unique 2-day capacity-building,leadership summit holding from 29th to 30th November 2024 for aspiring and high-performing youth leaders in the entire South African region. From its carefully-established theme, "FROM POTENTIAL TO IMPACT," this event seeks to empower young Africans, align them with contemporary African leadership challenges and equip them with the practical skills for leading in their immediate communities or spheres of influence. Our organization believes that the cornerstone to nurturing ambitious and determined youth leadership is education. It is through the opportunities to access quality education, training, and skills development that young people can attain the leadership roles that turn them into agents of transformative change.
