https://lnkd.in/g8_KGQHD I advise my PlushCare patients that sometimes night sweats are just the body’s way of regulating temperature during sleep, especially if the environment is warm. Other times, they can indicate an underlying medical condition. Find out more of my thoughts on the topic in a new Men’s Health article.

Your late rise spells your heart’s demise. It is very common for you to make drastic changes to your bedtime routine during weekends. It might seem like a harmless way to unwind. However, recent research suggests it could have serious implications for your cardiovascular health. This phenomenon is known as "social jetlag,". This occurs when you significantly alter your sleep and wake times on weekends compared to weekdays. During this time your body operates on multiple internal clocks, including your social clock (activity patterns), biological clock (circadian rhythm), and the sun clock (light-dark cycles). When these clocks are out of sync, it can increase your risk of various diseases. Studies have also shown that maintaining consistent sleep duration and timing is crucial for overall health and longevity. Irregular sleep patterns have been linked to an increased risk of all-cause mortality, cancer mortality, and cardiometabolic mortality. To minimize health risks, experts recommend avoiding variations in sleep duration of more than 90 minutes. While catching up on sleep might seem appealing, excessively long weekend sleep sessions can disrupt your body's natural rhythm and potentially harm your health in the long run. Until next time, this is Rahim Valani MD, MMedEd, MBA, LLM wishing you good health, and hope to see you soon. #thoughtleadership #growth #success #medical #medicine

This study result and the context are described very well in the fascinating book „Why we sleep“ by Matthew Walker - I highly recommend.
