💡Create a Healthy Multigenerational Workplace For the first time in history, workplaces are beginning to span six generations: from the octogenarians of the Silent Generation to the teenagers of Generation Alpha pursuing their first jobs and internships. As a manager, how can you lead across this multigenerational workforce? 1️⃣Build your strategy around all six generations. This means both becoming an employer of choice for everyone and making sure your product mix appeals to all consumers. 2️⃣Level the playing field. Ensure that job applicants and employees don’t feel that they must hide their age or apologize for being a member of their generation to access opportunities in your organization. 3️⃣Look at generations as cultures—and harness the power of intergenerational diversity. Generational differences in norms regarding technology, communication, and leadership are common. Encouraging employees to build cross-cultural agility, which enables them to navigate differences with humility, curiosity, and flexibility, can help teammates of different generations productively engage with each other. 4️⃣Use purpose as a unifier. Employees at every level want meaning and mission in their lives. Help your intergenerational team understand and commit to a common purpose. #workplace #generations #octogenarians #SilentGeneration #teenagers #firstjob #internships #multigenerational #workforce #lifeataig This tip is adapted from “Leading the 6-Generation Workforce,” by Nicholas Pearce

National Work Experience Week is here! This initiative plays a crucial role in shaping the future workforce by offering students and young professionals valuable insights into different industries. Businesses can make a significant impact during this week by: 1. Offering short-term work placements or internships to provide hands-on experience. 2. Hosting informational sessions or workshops to share industry knowledge and career advice. 3. Organising mentorship programs to guide and support participants throughout their work experience. 4. Providing opportunities for job shadowing or career exploration to help individuals understand various roles within the company. Supporting the younger generation not only contributes to the development of future talent but also plays a key role in advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. By encouraging a diverse range of individuals to explore and enter industries that have been traditionally dominated by men, we can help change the demographics and create more inclusive workplaces. Let’s work together to inspire and empower the next generation of professionals while driving positive change in our industries! If your organisation is looking to adopt an early in careers process and strong DEI strategy then get in contact with D&A Services International Ltd for more information. #WorkExperienceWeek #FutureOfWork #CareerDevelopment #DEI #InclusiveWorkplaces Donavan Hutchinson

Placement Director's perspective!! Embracing Internships in the Post-Pandemic Era: A Call to Action for Companies hiring GenZ. "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt I remember a time when internships were the lifeblood of college experiences, especially for students pursuing degrees in Arts, Management, and Commerce. The excitement of learning, gaining experience, earning, and having fun was palpable. From the first year of college, students eagerly dove into diverse internships—whether in finance, marketing, HR, operations, management, volunteering, or ambassadorship. Passion often trumped the desire to go home during breaks, driven by the prospect of personal and professional growth. However, the pandemic has altered this landscape. Today's students seem less inclined towards internships, prioritizing time at home over work experiences that may not always prioritize their well-being. The enthusiasm for internships has waned, as many students feel disillusioned by companies that fail to align with their values. It's crucial for companies to adapt and resonate with Gen Z's ethos. Here are a few ways to rekindle their interest: 1. Encourage Side Hustles: Allow students to explore their passions alongside their roles. 2. Share Your Mission Openly: Gen Z cares deeply about making the world a better place. Transparency about your company's mission can inspire them. 3. Promise Life Beyond Work: Highlight the importance of work-life balance and well-being. GenZ gives more importance to Mental health. All these points are applicable to colleges as well. For undergraduates in Arts, Management, and Commerce, these changes can make all the difference. While engineering students may still pursue internships for skill upgrades and mandatory requirements, it’s time we bring back the passion for internships across all fields by fostering an environment that truly cares for students. Together, let’s create opportunities that ignite the spark of ambition and drive among our future leaders. Please add your perspective to my thoughts!! #Internships #GenZ #CompanyCulture #WorkLifeBalance #StudentWellbeing #CareerGrowth #passion #ambition #arts #management #commerce #engineering #students #graduates

Portland companies - I know there is a lot of economic uncertainty coming up for 2024 if it's gonna be a big growth year or a grind, but I can tell you that The Script (formerly Emerging Leaders) has changed the trajectory of Thesis from when we started participating 8 years ago as a 50-employee agency that was performing okay to now a 300-employee agency that is able to deliver creative + strategic services to our clients we never dreamed of back then. Of course, this isn't all due to participating in an excellent diverse internship program, but it was a significant mindset shift that positively shifted our culture and allowed us to attract the very best talent over the past 8 years. This article expands on this whole notion. https://lnkd.in/gDhheeAE
