A visual of the interior courtyard of Chamiers 59, showing the Terracotta Jali blocks from up close. Design by The Architecture Story. Visual by WyrdTree. The building is a condensed hybrid including a public gallery open to the public at the ground level. Other floors include capsule retail shops, co-working spaces, yoga & meditation studios, naturopathy & crystals shops etc. The top floor includes a pop-up venue with an events viewing deck. "Positioned at the intersection of commercial and residential areas in R. A. Puram, Chennai, the project Chamiers 59 embraces the dichotomy of its context. As the neighborhood transitions from its low-rise roots to a denser, vertical future, catalyzed by new planning regulations, the design serves as a response to this transformative period. The project aims to capture the dichotomy of the context and the building that brings together the dynamism of a mixed-use building with the openness and communal spirit of a traditional courtyard." Residential Architecture @ Jaipur Courtyard House, Jaipur The courtyard house was an exploration to evolve architectural form as a response to the strong context addressing parameters such as climate, amalgamation of local building materials, construction techniques and craftsmanship creating a building which is a reflection of the lifestyle for the residents. The wind movement guides the proportions of the courtyard enabling the spaces to be naturally ventilated and lit throughout the year. Deep colonnaded external verandahs in this semi-arid climatic zone while prevents the excessive heat to directly penetrate into the façade during summers also responds to winters where it is utilized more for outdoor seating. On the other hand, the internal courtyard which reaches deep into the house, blurring the boundary between inside and outside, is an ideal summer gathering space. Designed for a traditional Indian, close-knit joint family that loves spending time with each other, the emphasis is to ensure a variety of semi-open and enclosed common spaces that encourage a sense of togetherness and community spaces that holds a large family together -celebration of 03 generations living together. The courtyard house has series of motifs forming ever-changing shadows on the walls and geometrically designed flooring patterns with the movement of the sun over the day. #residentialarchitecture #CourtyardLiving #ArchitecturalExploration #ContextualDesign #ClimateResponsive #LocalMaterials #Craftsmanship #NaturalVentilation #SustainableArchitecture #ColonadedVerandahs #SemiAridClimate #OutdoorLiving #InternalCourtyard #BlurringBoundaries #TraditionalDesign #JointFamilyLiving #SunShadowPatterns

Redefining Residential Spaces in India India's residential architecture is a rich blend of tradition and innovation. From sprawling courtyards that honor cultural roots to modern, sustainable designs that embrace the future, every home tells a unique story. As an architectural designer, I believe homes should go beyond aesthetics—they should reflect the people living in them, adapt to their needs, and harmonize with the environment. In India, where diversity in lifestyle and climate shapes our housing, the challenge is designing spaces that are both functional and meaningful. Whether it's optimizing compact urban apartments or crafting luxurious villas, the goal is the same: to create spaces that feel like home. I’m passionate about exploring design solutions that balance tradition, innovation, and sustainability in Indian homes. Let’s connect to exchange ideas or collaborate on crafting the future of residential spaces! #ResidentialDesign #ArchitectureInIndia #SustainableLiving

Exploring the Old Streets of Ahmedabad: A Study in Urban Design As part of our group project, we explored Old Ahmedabad, analyzing key urban design principles—Visual Aesthetics, Ergonomics, Enclosure, Permeability, Proximity, Circulation & Movement, and Scale & Proportion—through real-world observations. From the visual charm of heritage facades to the ergonomic design of street seating, we saw how urban elements shape daily life. The enclosure of narrow lanes, permeability of doorways, and proximity of mixed-use spaces all contribute to a dynamic, walkable environment. Observing circulation and movement, we studied how people and vehicles interact in these organic streets, while scale and proportion reinforced the intimate character of the city. This project deepened our appreciation for human-centric urban design and the timeless wisdom embedded in historic cities. How do you see these principles influencing modern urban spaces? #Design #CreativeDesign #DesignInspiration #DesignThinking #DesignLife #ArtAndDesign #InteriorDesign #Architecture #SpaceDesign #HomeDecor #ModernDesign #SustainableDesign

India's architectural legacy to the world! India’s architectural heritage reflects a tapestry of traditions, craftsmanship, and spiritual influence, shaping the landscape over centuries. From the intricate carvings of ancient temples to the majestic Mughal palaces and the colonial structures of the British era, each period introduced unique design elements. Traditional Vastu Shastra principles, blending science with aesthetics, remain relevant today, influencing modern construction. Notably, the fusion of sustainability and culture was always integral—evident in stepwells, courtyards, and the use of natural ventilation techniques. As real estate developers, we draw inspiration from this rich legacy, creating spaces that honor the past while meeting the needs of the future. Our projects strive to blend traditional aesthetics with contemporary design, offering sustainable, luxurious living experiences. At Trehan Luxury Floors, we see architecture not just as a craft but as a tribute to the timeless spirit of Indian culture. #Architecture #RealEstate #IndianCulture #SustainableDesign #Luxury

*Breathing new life into Old Spaces* and *Designing with Nature.... Blending the inside with the outside* An existing warehouse shed that we injected a new life into and converted it into a Lounge, which is a part of the larger Brew Lounge Design. The adaptive reuse of existing structures minimises our environmental impact, while simultaneously provides a new life to old buildings. This allows us to not just be environmentally conscious but also to be cost-effective, and sensitive to the architecture of the existing space. Our vision was also, to design, so as to be one with Nature. With envious wonderful climate that we have at Bangalore, the desire to connect indoors and out is stronger than ever. To infuse energy and vibrancy into the existing space, we wanted a sense of rawness, unfinished, evolving, and most importantly to tell a story that the building belongs to a different period, but has been given a new life with colours, textures and materials. #repurpose #adaptivereuse #design #studiodecode #design #brewery #bengaluruarchitecture #contemporaryclassical

”Thinking Hands and Drawing Brains” #ASketchaDay #Day11 Sketch Title: A humble experience at Hridhaya Kunj, Gandhiji’s house, Ahmedabad. Sketch Credits: Godwin Emmanuel Jeyaraj Simplicity at Hridhaya Kunj: A Glimpse into Gandhiji's Living Space Hridhaya Kunj, Gandhiji’s house, is a testament to simplicity. The layout is straightforward, with rooms arranged around a central courtyard. The window details, with their delicate wooden frames, are a striking feature. The roof, supported by slender wooden beams, casts interesting shadows. The courtyard, a space for reflection and meeting, is the heart of the house. The separate rooms for Gandhiji and his wife, Kasturba, reflect their shared living space while respecting their individual needs. It's a humble experience, offering a glimpse into Gandhiji's space, routines, and philosophies. #ArchitecturalSketching #SiteAnalysis #TransectWorkshop #DesignThinking #Architecture #TravelSketching #ArchitecturalJourney #IndiaTravels #ExploreIndia #ArtAndArchitecture #travellingtransectworkshop #Gandhiji #HridhayaKunj #SimpleLiving #HistoricalHomes #Travelogue
