This webinar was an introduction to the new Post Carbon Institute "Deep Dives" series of events and curated materials that "can help anyone better understand important aspects of the climate crisis." I recommend listening to Kumi's talk at 18 minutes: https://lnkd.in/gq3ZzR-9 "Resilience+" is a new area of www.resilience.org where you can dive deeper into selected sustainability topics and access extras like exclusive live discussions. #GreatUnraveling #SystemChange #ClimateBreakdown #Collapse #Resilience #PolyCrisis #ClimateEmergency #DeepAdaptation #ClimateEmergencyResponse #CascadingFailures #ClimateImpact #ClimateSolutions #InnerClimateRevolution #EmotionalResilience https://lnkd.in/gATrPGT2

Free Webinar Wednesday, Jan 3, 2024 at 8:30 EST/5:30 PST on Degrowth - A Better Global Quality of Life with Less Production People everywhere asking if degrowth is the only realistic way to counter climate change. But how would that happen? Would people lose their jobs and be impoverished in the US and across the world? Or would it be the only way for poor countries to free themselves from overdeveloped ones? Degrowth means (1) increasing necessities in the poor world while (2) decreasing unnecessary production in the rich world. What are necessities? What is useless and destructive production? How can we teach children to appreciate people more than things? What does it mean to ration “embodied fossil fuels?” Speakers include: • Ajamu Baraka, Black Alliance for Peace, • Don Fitz, Outreach Coordinator, Green Party of St. Louis, • Alice Green, Green Party of Washington State, • Stan Cox, Research Associate, The Land Institute Registration details: The webinar is NO COST, but you need to REGISTER to attend. Assistant Professor Obstetrics & Gynecology, U of Rochester | born at 323 ppm | Lecturer on Plastics and Health
The effects of climate change were already being felt as far back as the 1960s, but scientists who linked fossil fuels with climate change were labelled “prophets of doom”. This episode traces the trajectory of climate change over the past 60 years and examines how and why – despite the stark warnings – we failed to halt the climate catastrophe we are currently experiencing, and why it appears politics and science are at odds when it comes to this issue.

Governments allow deforestation and pollution, then come out with laws to tax on the name of Climate change....is this known as creating problems to profit? Just STOP killing the FORESTS and much of the nonsense is solved. Julia Butterfly Hill is the Hero in saving forest....but where are the rest of the humans? A good video to show the children to understand the Great Conspiracy! https://lnkd.in/gwM5usTF?

Insightful new article out in The Conversation today, co-authored by Wentworth Group member Bradley Moggridge (PhD) “'Knowledge keeps the fires burning': how ancient Indigenous wisdom can transform our battle against climate change”. There is an increasing body of research showing that incorporating Indigenous knowledge, and supporting Indigenous people and local communities to participate in conservation and climate programs and policy development, improves both social and environmental outcomes. The research behind this article shows how Australia can enhance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ voices in the IPCC process. It is well worth a read. https://lnkd.in/gXxABxtD

Interesting initiative by the Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS). We have often repeated that 2% of global GDP would be enought to fix the climate and biodiversity crisis. Here they propose a step in the direction of putting together the funds needed.
