The 2024 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria (OOSC) is changing as of today April 1, 2024. 11 changes will go into effect, two of the most prominent ones are. Changes to the 20% detective brakes out-of-service condition to include other items. Vehicles equipped with an automatic tire inflation system (ATIS) Will not be placed out of service (OOS) for an audible leak if the tire is maintaining pressure and the puncture is not in the sidewall. In my work for the Industry of Private Motor Carriers contracted for highly volatile hazardous materials under government contracts... I follow Crash Causation Studies, one in particular I had the chance to be aware of in a former DOT Investigator career is the FMCSA's Large Truck Crash Causation study. 🔧 Today marks the final conference of the Joint Action on Aftermarket Brake Components (Category M1 Vehicles), JAHARP2021-03. Market Surveillance Authorities are gathering to discuss crucial testing results, associated risks/hazards, and most importantly, the outcomes that will shape the industry's future. This initiative has been pivotal in enhancing safety and reliability standards across the aftermarket brake components sector. The discussions will not only focus on the impacts observed but also uncover new opportunities and valuable lessons learned throughout this collaborative effort. As we reflect on the achievements and insights gained from JAHARP2021-03, we are confident that these discussions will pave the way for further advancements in ensuring the quality and safety of automotive components.
