PITT OHIO has run the gamut on electric vehicles. The company has Class 7 Volvo VNR Electric trucks, Ford E-Transits, and two Class 7 Freightliner eM2s. This gives them perspective on which EVs work best for them. The company did “encounter challenges related to costs, vehicle range, durability, and charging infrastructure that complicate broader deployment of heavy-duty battery-electric trucks,” said Taki Darakos, Pitt Ohio’s VP of maintenance and fleet services. But terminal manager Mike Todd said that eM2 trucks lets them "go on 18 to 20 deliveries and still make 12 to 14 pickups. With a conventional vehicle, we’d be doing the same as we’re doing right now.” For more insight on how these zero-emission vehicles worked in real life, see part two of our equipment feature below. #truckingindustry #zeroemissionvehicle #electricvehicle
