What on earth is a Sponge City? With the climate changing faster than we can cope, flooding is becoming more and more common 🌊 According to the Environment Agency, extreme weather events are now FOUR TIMES more likely to happen in the UK than they were in 1970. We have an urban / rural divide in BC but we also have increasing losses to our forests from climate change and wildfire. It’s not going to get better and I’ve said for years that in the future we’ll be managing forests for snow and water retention as much as any other product. This doesn’t seem to show up in voting patterns even though many communities have to evacuate every summer. How would you explain this disconnect?
