So anyway. Cold calling.
If you're a staffing account manager, and you're still making ice-cold calls... Woof. That's a rough job in 2023.
It doesn't have to be.
Staffing can do more to help new sellers.
For example... here's a staffing growth strategy I've seen:
🔹 Hire 5 new account managers,
🔹 Over 2 years
◾ 3 turnover
◾ 1 hits goals
◾ 1 beats goals
Instead, they could...
🔹 Hire 4, and put $70k toward marketing
🔹 Over 2 years
◾ 1 turns over
◾ 1 hits goals
◾ 2 beat goals
Same spend.
Better results.
It's not 2008.
Adjust your outreach strategy!

The reason why cold calling is no longer as efficient as it was in 2008 is because communication has changed dramatically since 2000 and. Let's see The iPhone came out in 2007, and the App Store did not come out until a year later. Right, and since then, we've had the inception of WhatsApp and Slack and Teams and Google Chat. If you're a weirdo, even texting has become far more ubiquitous than it was back in the day. My grandma texts and she's 90 years old. The ways that people get information, it has changed dramatically since 2008. And I should say cold calling hasn't maintained its spot on that list of things, right? Like cold calling was already annoying to a buyer in 2008, and now they have eight other things that they can rely on in order to solve a business problem. And cold calling has remained at the bottom of that list. So I think that's a major driving force. Behind the downfall of cold calling, the other big piece is AI. Outlook has focused mail and it has everything else. Gmail has your primary inbox, and then it has like Promotions and Social and Updates, right? And it has all those tabs. So that's AI getting in the way of your emails. Voicemails almost dead. We have visual voicemail now. I don't even have to listen to their voice and I can delete it right there. All of those things are AI driven and they all predate ChatGPT and this new world of AI. This is going to get worse.
