When you hear this, yes I said hear because although you read it your brain listened - what are you the first thought(s), words that coalesced enough to speak or write? Mine? HSDB (Holy Snapping DuckSh!t Batman!) This is so accurate of our human-tech behaviour today. This is a line is from the brilliant Ken Burns and his team at Florentine Films documentary on #ErnestHemingway, which I regard as phenomenally good and worth the time. It speaks very much to the multiple industries and relationships throughout the #humantech landscape. So accurate in how we are designing our world, the who we wish to be, the who we wish to become but how healthy is this? And for whom are we doing it? Sometimes in doing so we provide ourselves with an inspiration. Other times we use it to hide what is private to us and yes all the grey in-between. It's an area of many tangents. Hemingway thought he could control the myth but there comes a time where it takes on a life of its own! It becomes harder to live the reality of the #avatar. You’ll never hear “f*ck sound” on my set. When you make dialogue-heavy, character-driven films, good sound is essential. Fixing audio in post can be time consuming and expensive, and ADR often times doesn’t match the performance of the scene. Treat production sound as important - because it is.

Nothing can sap an actor’s energy faster than playing behavior as if it is habitual. One antidote is to concentrate on the uniqueness of a scene.
