Eurofi High Level Seminar 2024, Ghent - day 3 - My 5 personal take-aways: 1. Monetary authorities have learned from the past “low for long” period and we will most probably not go back to the same low levels soon. The adaptation process to higher rates is still ongoing. 2. Commercial real estate, consumer finance and leveraged finance are under scrutiny from a credit risk perspective. 3. When the European Union created the single market Telecom, Energy, Defence and Finance were not in scope. These are now the four domains where Europe misses competitiveness and should unite forces. 4. The importance and interconnectedness with the banking system of Nonbank Financial Institutions is growing. There is a need to better understand their potential impact on financial stability. 5. I will end with quoting Jacques de Larosière: “We need less regulation and more strategy”. #Eurofi, #financialservices, #bankingsector

The fintech industry inspires with innovative solutions. Digital innovations are creating numerous new opportunities in the market for the #future. At the same time, efficient strategies must be developed to manage the new risks associated with this. Regulation plays a crucial role in creating a balanced and stable framework and promoting positive developments while at the same time minimizing risks. I am looking forward to discussing the implications of these developments with the growing community of experts at the @Dubai FinTech Summit 2024. #Innovation #OeNB #DieNationalbank

#CMU: an #ELECItalia #RomaTre Seminar on Legal and Institutional Aspects. Those aspects play a key role not only for defining the frameworks enabling CMU to exist and operate, but also for managing the necessary processes of legislation regulation and implementation condusive to CMU. The discussion at the Seminar organized by #theEuropeanLeagueforEconomicCooperation - Italia and the Third Public University of Rome on 27 June in Rome involved lawyers regulators academics and market ploayers, whose support is essential to identify the obstacles to CMU and the measures to overcome them. A truely single markmet requires a single supervisor, a single rulebook, a single regulator and a single depository infrastructure, even though, as in the case of monetary policy and the Banking Union, single does not mean necessarily centralised and monocratic. The topic covers a wide range of areas involved in the operation of the CMU, from regulation and supervision to #taxlaw (eg. #withholdingtax) and #crisismanagement, from banking to #insurance #pensionfunds and #assetmanagers, from #securities to #equitty and #quasiequity, etc. #MarcelloBianchi from #Assonime and #AntonioMatonti (#Confindustria) stressed the point that such frameworks should also be simple clear and friendly to users such as investors and industry. The Seminar was coordinated by #GianfrancoTrovatore (Consob and ELEC Board). Main speakers were #AlessandroCarano (EIB), #GiovanniGuzzetta (Rome University), #AnnaSciortino (ESMA), #MarcoVentoruzzo #AMF (the association of financial markets intermediaries), #EnricaCremonini of #ECSDA the #EuropeanCentralDepositories Association, #EnricoGiordano of #CliffordChance. Conclusions were drawn by #RenatoLoiero, who follows the CMU file at the Italian #PrimeMinisterOffice. The video of the Seminar will be made available at the website of #ELECItalia.
