🚧 Yesterday, we had a great safety session at our Ben Hill Plant led by Area Safety Manager Deshawn Glenn. Deshawn covered the “Five Keys of the Smith System,” which is an essential part of our commitment to ensuring safety on the road. The Five Keys of the Smith System include: 1. Aim High in Steering - Keep your eyes on the big picture to anticipate potential hazards. 2. Get the Big Picture - Stay alert to everything happening around you to stay safe. 3. Keep Your Eyes Moving - Constant vigilance helps avoid unnecessary surprises. 4. Leave Yourself an Out - Position your vehicle where you have the best chance of avoiding a collision. 5. Make Sure They See You - Use your signals properly and ensure that you’re seen by others around you. Check out this snapshot of Deshawn engaging with the team. To me, safety is not the work of a single team or the topic of a single meeting. It’s embedded in our culture and is the result of the actions we take every day to protect ourselves, our colleagues, and our communities. Across the company, we’re taking advantage of National Safety Month to raise awareness of the most common causes of accidents and ensure employees feel empowered to speak up if they have a concern. We all play a role in maintaining a strong safety culture – from preventing slips, trips, and falls to using equipment and protective gear correctly. #LifeAtBAESystems
