Today hit different - Was at the Long Service Award ceremony, held to felicitate employees who served 15 20 25 years in the organisation. What struck me the most was how each of the Awardees was filled with gratitude for the organisation, their colleagues and seniors. How for some employment with the organisation meant the world and more & how working in the organisation led to so many wonderful things in their lives. Some choking with emotion & some at a loss of words while recounting the trials tribulations blood sweat & tears & of how they ultimately triumphed to be where they are. How everyone’s families expressed their unflinching love and adulation for the organisation with several wife’s going to the extent of confessing that the organisation is their husbands’ first love. Now the point of the post is this - In today’s day & age of corporate employment, it’s quite rare for so many people staying within an organisation for such long period of time. As much for management team of the business to not just be involved in every bit of the ceremony to enthusiastically welcome the Awardees and their families. The whole vibe in that hall was just so much warm & filled with bonhomie. Smiles & handshakes all around, fond recollection of memories & eager anticipation for the future. I am not too much k to cliches’ but as it goes - A big happy family rejoicing together. So there’d be ‘something’ surely which all of these guys would have found in the organisation & decided not to consider moving away over so many years. Note that such awards are held across businesses every year or may be twice, with an ever growing list of Awardees. Now the clincher - each of these guys having accumulated a wealth of experience over long arduous years becoming an expert in their domain there are enough opportunities going around. So really, this ‘something’ which each of these guys found to stay on in the organisation, must surely be their complete single & absolute calling for it takes real conviction to disregard the lure of the lucre. On the contrary to my thought process & confidence of having earned best experience to be able to read things & circumstances, there is much & more left to be figured out here - in this storied organisation. PS1 - There is another category of 30 35 40 + Years 😀 PS2 - Missed the presence of a respected senior colleague at the event today. She having moved on to a bigger brighter role - within the Organisation after creating a legacy PS3 - Speaking to someone in the snack break I said these days companies don’t last for 25 years, forget employees. PS4 - That’s a six year old Jr celebrating his Daddy’s success at #L&T #LarsenToubro #LNTConstruction #LetsGo #ImmensePossibilities 🏌️♂️🌸

AN UNEXPECTED MENTOR & FRIEND: #RIP Stu Cross Every once in a while you're lucky enough to have a mentor, sometimes without even fully realizing it until you look backward in life. In my many years of work at The Coca-Cola Company, Stu Cross was that mentor for me. I feel heartbroken to learn that he died recently. Stu and I worked together for at least a decade. I assisted him and others with implementing the company's global transformation called the Manifesto for Growth, helped him build multiple high-thriving teams along the way, and supported his efforts to launch an active healthy living campaign during the Sochi Olympic Games via the company's relationships and brands. Suffice it to say, we had many experiences together, both ups and downs, and all of it can be summed up as "goodness." The Coca-Cola Company was one of Wisdom Works Group's initial clients when I cofounded our firm 25 years ago. And when I submitted my first work contract to Stu, he sent it back, telling me to multiply the price of it by 3 ... yes, he asked me to RAISE the price because he wanted me, particularly as a female leader in a mostly male corporate world at that time, to learn how to truly appreciate the value our team was providing the company. I felt his deep care. What an unexpected surprise it was for me as a new business owner to have a client mentor me in valuing the worth of our firm's work. That was the beginning of our relationship, the spirit of true partnership. In this work of leadership and organizational transformation, the lines between colleagues and friends often get blurred. This makes sense: Transformational work is about human beings, and when it comes to human beings, things usually aren't clear cut. They're messy. Every step of the way, I was grateful to be in this transformational messiness with Stu, a person who I could count on and who counted on me with mutual respect, care, and, as I now see it, love. Everyone you touched will miss you, Stu. I already do.

Two years ago, I was awarded for being among the top 50 students in my faculty, which comprised about 2000 people. During the award ceremony, a banner featuring our pictures was displayed. It was my first time experiencing such recognition, and I was so excited to see my face among the awardees. Eager to capture the moment, I approached the banner, only to find two people blocking it. Politely, I asked if I could take a photo with it. One of them questioned if my face was even there, to which I confirmed and pointed it out. Then she remarked that it's just a picture on a banner and the person doesn't even really look like me 🙂. All my excitement disappeared, clearly visible on my face, and my pictures didn't come out as nice as I would have loved🥲. It's in the past, but every time I remember that incident or look at those pictures, I feel so bad for allowing the person to steal that moment from me. Here's what it taught me 👇 That it's not a big deal to someone else doesn't make it less of a big deal for you. If it matters to you, don't trivialize it because someone says it's not a big deal. Don't allow anyone to make whatever you consider as huge less important because it doesn't seem important to them. Every victory, no matter how small, deserves recognition and celebration. Don't let anyone belittle your successes because they don't understand their significance. You don't need to prove it to anyone or explain why it is. It's YOUR win, not OUR win. Count your little wins and celebrate them with your full chest. Embrace your triumphs, no matter the scale, and celebrate them proudly. I am rooting for you always. Have a great week ahead! #TestyTalks

With many professionals grappling for professional recognition, you must BEWARE of #VANITY #AWARDS. Instead of propping you forward, #VanityAwards can make you a laughing stock. The following elements should raise your eyebrows before you receive an award. ❌ You have to pay to receive your award. ❌ There is no clear criteria of how you have "won" the award. ❌ Sponsoring is a MUST in order to earn the award. ❌ The jury or assessment panel is not clear. ❌ Exceedingly high entry fees such that, it is for those with financial muscle. ❌ You have to purchase something in order to win the award (blackmail). ❌ The awarding organization, is "conflicted" and has interests (financial, business, close personal relationships with the potential winners to cause bias". Winning is influenced by these relationships. ☑ As a professional, getting awards can be refreshing to your CV, but be aware that "VANITY AWARDS" may do more harm than good to your legacy. ☑ Keep receiving #GENUINE #AWARDS and shun #VANITY #AWARDS ☑ Never be #DesperateForRecognition.

I was thinking of this quote by Vidal Sassoon this morning. It's a great reminder to celebrate Small Wins, Amplify Success: Don't wait for the big milestones to celebrate. Acknowledge and appreciate the small wins along the way. It's the accumulation of these victories that propels us towards larger success. #SuccessJourney #WorkplaceInspiration #PassionAndPerseverance #professionalgrowth #professionalbeauty #educationmanagement #createsuccesstogether #savetime #savemoney
