Valid point! My father was a Navy veteran (1969-1985) who worked as engineer in the Bombay Port Trust (1985-2007). In fact a bunch of his naval batch mates were also hired back in mid-1980s. The conversations around veterans is different, informative, and educative. A lot of life & survival skills I’ve learnt from my dad & his veteran network.
Thank you for sharing this. Although many industries aim to support veterans, there are still some misconceptions about them. Your post helps to shed light on the valuable qualities that veterans bring to the workforce and contributes to a broader understanding among the new generation.
Presently Civil Servant @ Govt of Assam, Indian Navy Veteran
5moThis misconception is there but reality is something else. I am a Naval Veteran, 20 yrs of Vast Technical, Combat, IT , Human Resource, Material Management and lot more experience in my bag. And presently joined as Civil Servant in Govt of Assam. My colleague and Senior Vijesh sir also had lot of experience in various field presently working in a Software Company, My colleague, K Ganesan, working in SAP Vietnam, my batch mates n colleagues working in Law field...so on. You name it and there is someone from Navy there. It shows that Veterans after giving a long service to Nation had chosen a new path and they are doing best on that field. Even a Navy person is MLA in Govt of Mizoram. I think Veterans r more capable and smart and expert person rather than any other person in civil side.
