Flicking the bird at the status quo | Award Winning Rebel🏴☠️| Most Influential Woman in Construction 2024 | Women’s Safety, PPE & Retention Specialist | Speaker | Mining Geologist | Bold as Brass Tribe Founder
Anti-oppression is the new empowerment. I don’t believe in empowering women without affecting the environment around them. 🏴☠️💪🏼 So that’s what my Anti-Oppression Rebellion talk does. It provides the entire team with knowledge that enables them to take action, gives equity solutions to help retain women employees, and speaks directly to women to let them know they are not alone, our Bold as Brass tribe sees them. Here’s a review from Andy Stanford CEng FICE of Walsh - Structural, Civil & Geotechnical Engineers “Last week, I had the pleasure of welcoming Katherine Evans to Walsh and introducing her talk to a gathering of staff, clients, and friends as part of the Walsh INWED programme. Katherine's unique approach to corporate speaking and her passion is truly inspirational. Katherine’s passion is infectious. The way she talked about the challenges women face and the solutions proposed just made sense and was done in a way that it’s impossible not to engage with. I ended the evening feeling humbled yet motivated. I love working in the construction industry, and as an industry, we have improved immensely over my 40-year stint. But we need to keep changing and evolving. I have to say, in all my years, I don’t feel I have ever been as motivated to promote change as last week. Her “Bold as brass” platform is an absolute tour de force. If you get an opportunity to engage with it, I implore you to do so. Thanks again, Katherine, and keep doing your thing. 👊👊” 💻 If you want a slice of this uniting revolution, email me on Katherine@bold-as-brass.com #BoldAsBrass #AntiOppression #keynotespeaker #womensequity #InWED24

Both construction and technology stand to gain a lot from investing in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Today marks Juneteenth, which is now a federal holiday in the US. It commemorates the day in 1965 when the remaining enslaved people were notified of their freedom—two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggles for racial equity and freedom which, if addressed, can help individuals thrive as well as support growth and innovation. At HammerTech, we're committed to creating a space where everyone can show up to work authentically, sharing history and unity by celebrating cultural differences. #Juneteenth #racialequity #constructiontech

Is it harder for women to reach top executive positions than men? Monika Hamori uses her research and data from the past 40 years to analyse women's progress into high-ranking leadership positions. The primary aim of 'Breaking the Ceiling' is to equip women with essential soft- skills for enhanced autonomy and empowerment in the workplace, thereby boosting their prospects of shattering -the glass ceiling- and advancing up the corporate hierarchy. By infusing business management with a gender perspective, the initiative seeks to narrow the gender gap in positions of influence and ultimately enhance women's employment status in the EU and around the world. https://lnkd.in/d_5bM8Yg
Does the Glass Ceiling Still Exist?

This story we will share now is not only numbers and statistics, to us this is our way to success and we are happy to inspire others in our industry. From the outset of our serial production in Sweden, we made a steadfast commitment to cultivating a workforce that reflects the rich tapestry of backgrounds, nationalities, ages and gender, with a 40-60 distribution of men and women. However, we were approached that it was impossible to achieve if we wanted the staff to have industry background and knowledge, but we would not let that affect our beliefs. Today 38% of the workforce in the factory is made up of women ( compared to 35% last year). And 35% of our company's total workforce is made up of women. This is a target many in the industry are aiming for, but we are already there. Women employed in the industry is only around 30% (Source: World Manufacturing Foundation). We hope that this post inspires other companies to follow in our footsteps and make diversity and inclusion a priority. And for us its time to set a new long term goal, with a 50-50 distribution of men and women. Let's continue to create a workplace that reflects the diversity of our world and promotes equality for all. https://lnkd.in/dsw2WttX

Jenn has been a vital part of the Empire family for many years, consistently demonstrating professionalism, dedication, hard work, and a positive attitude. We are so incredible grateful for her commitment and the positive impact she has on our team each and every day. We asked Jenn if she could answer a few questions about her time and experience in the roofing industry: Q: How long have you been working in the roofing industry? A: “I have been working in the roofing industry for over 7 years, starting on March 17th 2017!” Q: What do you enjoy most about working in the roofing industry? A: “What I enjoy most about working in the roofing industry is the fast-paced environment and the continuous opportunities to learn and grow within the field.” Q: What challenges have you overcome in this industry? A: “Coming from a non-roofing background, the biggest challenge I faced was learning about the various products and understanding the numerous roofing systems. A: “I see more and more women becoming involved in the roofing industry each year. It is a pleasure to work alongside such strong and capable women, and I believe their presence and influence will continue to grow, bringing fresh perspectives and driving positive change within the industry.” Q: What advice would you give to other women considering a career in roofing?” A: “My advice to other women considering a career in roofing is it be confident in your ability to learn and excel in something outside of your comfort zone. Embrace the challenges and know that your skills and perspectives are valuable assets to the industry.” Thank you, Jenn, for your incredible contributions to Empire Roofing, and for being an inspiring part of our team. CEO, West Ohio Tool Co. I Industry Disruptor I Certified WOSB, AS9100D, ISO9001:2015, ITAR, CMMC Level 2
I had no idea this post was being made today. Feeling so humbled to be one honored for International Women’s Day when an industry magazine has 40,000+ followers. Why me?! STEM is near and dear to my heart. Always the science and math “nerd” growing up with an intense love of the moon and stars. Not much has changed other than a new love of manufacturing and forever a curiosity of “how it’s made”. My journey has not been easy, but worth it. With grit and grace, a very low tolerance of for status quo or complacency and the right people beside me, I’ve learned far more is possible than probably what I believed could be back in 2016-2020 when I allowed my own light to be dimmed. Spending time on the phone today with a customer in California making shocks for DOD, automotive and off-roading and how we can help design customer tooling, I sure wouldn’t have it any other way. Helping others solve problems lights me up. Helping others find solutions for more value - better quality, faster delivery, less inventory, better product, lower cost per hole - lights me up. I will forever be looking for those that align both internally and externally as customers and vendors. Because the magic happens when alignment happens. In turn, there’s always more magic created, more fun, more productivity together, more innovation, more serving others, more changing the world together. Forever grateful to make an impact, lead the way for women in this field, and inspire upcoming female leaders in STEM.
Today, we're honoring the incredible women who are breaking barriers and reshaping the landscape of metalworking. From crafting intricate designs to mastering precision engineering, women are leaving their mark on this traditionally male-dominated industry. Let's celebrate their talent, creativity, and resilience as they inspire future generations of women in STEM. 👏 💪 We want to highlight the remarkable journey of Kaci King, CEO of West Ohio Tool, a trailblazer in the world of custom cutting tool manufacturing. As a second-generation leader, Kaci faced a significant transition when her father, the company's founder, stepped back due to health reasons. With determination and resilience, Kaci stepped into the role of CEO and charted a path to success.
