Well-balanced Corporate Leaders ensure their organizations have structured goals. In a survey that I conducted of over 50 Senior Leaders, one of the biggest areas of opportunity from their perspective was structured goal setting. 💡 So why is this important? Well, from a data standpoint, you are 42% more likely to achieve your goals when they are written down. For clarifying the objectives of the organization, and getting everyone on the same page, structured goal setting will aid in driving those results. As I wrap up my Executive Communications course at MIT Sloan School of Management, I’ve been thinking about how effective communication varies—not just globally, but even across different departments and teams. Whether you’re speaking to an international audience or collaborating internally, understanding who you’re talking to is key. In the U.S., business communication tends to be more direct, but internationally, things like power dynamics and hierarchy can differ greatly. For example, while eye contact shows confidence in the U.S., it can be seen as disrespectful in other cultures. These nuances matter, no matter where or who you’re communicating with. The key for leaders isn’t changing the message—it’s adjusting how you deliver it.
