😅 How companies feel when they see 𝟵𝟬𝟬+ 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 to their job posting... but who's to blame? .--. .-.. . -. - -.-- / --- ..-. / ..-. .. ... .... The labor market today is the new Wild West... according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of unemployed persons per open job is 0.8 as of March 2024! (That's not including active/passive job seekers, who are also plentiful in this market) That stat only tells half the story... these folks don't just want a job, they want a career that's both in their field of expertise and can pay the bills, giving ample time to take care of family obligations. 💪 Is it any wonder that most remote positions have so many applicants, even for specialist positions? It's a Catch 22... add too many filters, you may miss out on the best candidate. Add too few, and the entire world population will apply to your fantastic team... the net will break and you'll lose fish. Or... you could hire a spear fisher. But who would know your industry well enough to pick out a good candidate by eye and tell your awesome story in the market? :D Self-plug aside, if you're a jobseeker, be sure to apply carefully and tailor your resume to match a posting to avoid heartbreak and save time.
