📈The latest results of the Milliman Pension Buyout Index are out now. With the volatility in bond markets in July, retiree buyout costs spiked to their highest levels in over four years. Estimated competitive retiree buyout cost, as a percentage of accounting liability, increased by 220 bps from 100.3% to 102.5% during July. 🎶 We recently asked our employees to go back in time and share with us unique, diverse, and fun stories and photos from jobs and gigs they held before their Milliman days. Laurence Diehl, Ryan Larson, Gordon Klein, and Edward Mout all gave us stories related to music. 🤠 Laurence was a member of a traveling band called the Ozone Mountain Boys in the 1980s and played professionally for 20 years, including a gig at the Grand Ole Opry. 🎻Ryan, a violinist who joined the symphony orchestra while at Brigham Young University, also tunes pianos. 🎺 Gordon had a cool summer job during college: he played trumpet in the “Soda and Sounds” show at Adventureland amusement park near Des Moines, Iowa. 🎙️ Edward, who is based in Germany, was a professional opera singer for 15 years, performing on major stages in Europe plus Chicago, Minneapolis, and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he rode a horse onstage in his debut role. It's amazing to see how our past careers and experiences blend to create a richer, more vibrant workplace, reminding us that our unique identities add depth and value to both our work and our lives. #LifeAtMilliman #Milliman
