This minimizes sample loss & maximizes protein yield. 🐟 "The net" - OK, the membrane is a little more complicated than a net with fish swimming through - but the regenerated cellulose membrane retains your protein at the top, meaning - it keeps your sample from passing through to the filtrate (better sample yield). If you click the "Learn more" link, you'll see this in action in a cool video! 🛑 "The dead stop" - Not mentioned in the video (bonus just for you!), each device has an engineered dead stop. This means there is a tiny 'pool' at the bottom of the sample collector tube that has been carefully designed, so that a user will not over / under concentrate their sample.
