New Post: Hozier Notches His First Alternative Airplay Chart No. 1 With ‘Too Sweet’ - https://lnkd.in/gfdx-5MS - Nearly a decade after his first appearance on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, Hozier achieves his first No. 1 as “Too Sweet” lifts to the top of the June 29-dated ranking. Hozier first reached Alternative Airplay with his breakthrough single “Take Me to Church,” which debuted at No. 38 on the July 5, 2014, survey. The song eventually peaked at No. 2 that November. Since “Take Me to Church,” Hozier had appeared on Alternative Airplay with two tracks prior to “Too Sweet.” “Nina Cried Power,” featuring vocals from Mavis Staples, peaked at No. 31 in 2018, and “Eat Your Young” reached No. 13 last year. Concurrently, “Too Sweet” continues its reign on Adult Alternative Airplay, ruling for an eighth week. It’s Hozier’s longest running No. 1 among six on the survey and the chart’s longest leading hit since Death Cab for Cutie’s “Here to Forever” dominated for eight weeks in August-October 2022. “Too Sweet” also lifts to No. 1 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay tally thanks to 6.9 million audience impressions, up 5%, in the week ending June 20, according to Luminate. It’s likewise Hozier’s first leader; “Take Me to Church” peaked at No. 3 in 2014. “Too Sweet” is the first song to top all three lists since The Killers’ “Boy” in September-October 2022. As “Boy” did not lead all three simultaneously, “Too Sweet” is the first to accomplish that particular feat since The Black Keys’ “Wild Child” in May 2022. A multiformat hit, “Too Sweet” also rises to No.1 on Adult Pop Airplay, becoming Hozier’s second leader, following “Church” for a week in 2015, while ruling Pop Airplay for a second week. It also became his first No. 1 on the most recently published all-genre Radio Songs chart (dated June 22, reflecting data June 7-13) via 70.5 million audience impressions. “Too Sweet” is from Hozier’s four-song EP Unheard, which debuted at No. 3 on the Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums rankings dated April 6 and has earned 277,000 equivalent album units since its release. My kids attend the fabulous SOUNDS Academy, learning to play the violin and piano respectively. Extracurricular activities like music lessons provide a channel for reinforcing the lessons learned in the classroom, offering students the opportunity to apply academic skills in a real-world context. New Post: Hot 100 First-Timers: Rich Amiri Debuts With Breakthrough Single ‘One Call’ - https://lnkd.in/gthPRs7z - Rich Amiri banks his first career entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Feb. 10), as his breakthrough single “One Call” debuts at No. 79. Released in November on Internet Money Records/10K Projects, the track opens on the strength of its streaming sum: 6.8 million official U.S. streams (up 44%) in the Jan. 26-Feb. 1 tracking week, according to Luminate. It also bounds 45-33 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, which uses the same streaming-, airplay- and sales-based methodology as the Hot 100. The song appears on Rich Amiri’s latest LP, Ghetto Fabulous, also released in November. TikTok has been a factor in the song’s growth, as the track has been used in over 350,000 clips on the platform to date. The song soundtracks one growing trend involving creators comparing themselves to lovestruck TV/film characters when asked about their crushes. The virality of the song sparked its debut at No. 17 on the Feb. 3-dated TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart. “I don’t trust a soul, I don’t trust nobody,” the 19-year-old raps in the self-empowering track. “Extra green up in my pocket look like spinach/I put gold all in my mouth, I hate the dentist.” Rich Amiri hails from Randolph, Mass., in the South Shore area outside Boston. He has released two additional LPs: For the Better in 2022 and Evolution in March 2023. On the latter album, he collaborated with Lil Tecca on the track “Poppin.” He first began releasing music on streaming services in 2019. New Post: HYBE Set Quarterly Revenue Record, Net Income Dropped Sharply in Q2 - https://lnkd.in/gwj5W9zp - HYBE’s net income dropped 86% in the second quarter of 2024 as total revenue improved 3.1% to a quarterly record of 640 billion won ($482 million), the company announced Tuesday (Aug. 6).  The South Korean K-pop giant breaks its financial results into two main categories: segments with direct artist involvement such as recorded music and concerts, and those with indirect-artist involvement such as fan clubs, licensing and merchandise. In the second quarter, indirect revenue streams grew 17.4% to 217 billion won ($163 million). Direct revenue fell 2.9% to 424 billion won ($319 million) as concerts dropped 8.6% to 144 billion won ($108 million) while recorded music improved 1.5% to 250 billion won ($188 million).  Operating profit—total revenue less cost of sales and operating expenses—dropped 37.4% to 51 billion won ($38 million), a smaller decline than experienced by net income because of a sharp drop in non-operating income. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), a measure of the company’s cash profit from operations, fell 24.6% to 79 billion won ($59 million).  Results for the first six months of the year were, across the board, a bit worse than a year earlier. Although total revenue topped 1 trillion won ($741 million) for the second consecutive year, that amount was 2.9% lower than a year earlier. First-half operating profit, net income and EBITDA were also lower than the first half of 2023.  HYBE sold fewer albums in the first half of the year but dominated sales charts in South Korea and Japan. Led by Seventeen’s 4.4 million albums sold in the first half of the year, HYBE had 9 of the top 20 artists ranked by album sales in South Korea. Seventeen’s Best Album ’17 is Right Here’ ranked second in Japanese album sales with 423,000 units while its SEVENTEENTH Heaven: 11th Mini Album ranked No. 6 with 242,000 units. In the U.S., Tomorrow X Together’s Minisode 3: TOMORROW ranked No. 2 in CD sales behind Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department.  Streaming accounted for 35% of recorded music revenue, up from the first half of 2023. In a first-of-its-kind breakdown of the company’s streaming revenue, HYBE revealed that domestic streaming revenue for HYBE’s labels South Korea was 18 billion won ($18 million), less than half the amount from full-year 2023. (It did not provide first-half streaming revenue figures for those labels’ streaming revenue outside of South Korea). HYBE’s U.S. labels—Big Machine Label Group and Quality Control—also had streaming revenue of 61 billion won in the first half.  Weverse, HYBE’s social media platform, had 9.6 million monthly active users, up from 9.2 million in the first quarter and even with the 9.6
