A bit of behind-the-scenes on the music/audio side of #LilGuardsman - From the very beginning of Lil' Guardsman's pre-production, we knew that we wanted to incorporate my background as a musical theatre composer in the game somehow. We had the idea of a demented Disney princess-type character coming to the gate, and being interrogated by Lil. Another thing we knew: reflecting Artiom Komarov's overall feelings about musical theatre - Lil would NOT be impressed by the singing psychopath. It was a unique challenge to compose music and lyrics that fit interlocked, but also responded to player choice. Depending on if you select trust/doubt/or tease, the song lyrics you hear are different. A technical hurdle was figuring out how to seamlessly move back and forth between the looping background music between choices and the sung parts. Our solution became that whenever Chloe sings, that audio file interrupts the looping background music with a 1 beat pickup. It's not perfectly seamless, but it was the solution that means that the player doesn't have to wait for BG loop to end to hear the next segment. It's the option that felt the most 'live'! #FunFact: There are numerous ways to hit a fatal game over with Chloe, which causes the player to restart the turn. Imagining a player hitting these land mines, who might not want to hear all the singing a second time (again, looking at you Artiom), we built in the ability to skip the sung elements on the second playthrough. The Chloe turn is a surprise and a weird pop of flavour in level 3, just when you think you know what the game is going to give you. It's fun that we created a world where stuff this weird and wacky still fits, but doesn't totally break the game logic. Can't wait for folks to meet Chloe. Here's a taste, showing what happens if you're lulled into a false sense of safety based on the singing, and don't pay close enough attention to what she's actually saying!

Iconic. For years, Airbnb has been redefining brand activation and brand partnerships by opening the door for guests to literally live inside brands that shape culture and personal identities. Not simply an alternative to a hotel stay, they consistently tap into what it means to really live (even if for only a day) in a completely different world. And now delivering more extraordinary experiences hosted by some of the most iconic people and moments in music, film, TV, art, sports, and beyond. The true power of experience - and a real sense of FOMO (if they kids are still saying that) on display that puts the Airbnb brand and their distinctive offering in the spotlight with some major borrowed equity. Floating away in the UP House, Hanging with Kevin Hart, and living in the clock of the Musee d'Orsay are my favorites at first glance (Purple Rain honorary mention), but I know there will only be more to come because Airbnb knows how to play the long game with this institutionalized, winning brand behavior.
