This has to be my favourite op-ed piece. We started off with an ambitious journey to align Sun Tzu’s 13 strategies from “The Art of War” with the cybersecurity services we provide at Ensign InfoSecurity. Although feasible, the initial outline was overwhelmingly extensive. So, we decided to focus on the timeless principle ‘Know thy enemy', and the narrative, authored by Minhan Lim, Ensign's head of consultancy, finally came to fruition. Drawing inspiration from Sun Tzu’s teachings, it emphasises the importance of understanding cyber adversaries, implementing robust cybersecurity measures, and the necessity of proactive incident response strategies in today’s digital battlefield. The op-ed also brings to light a real-life scenario and strategic defences that businesses can employ against the growing threat of ransomware and other cyber threats. The timeless wisdom of Sun Tzu remains relevant today, influencing cybersecurity approaches and offering practical strategies in today's digital landscape.
