When lawyers within the Quebec Bar Association (le Barreau du Québec) turn a blind eye to one of their own committing crimes against a client, it is a betrayal of the very essence of justice. Instead of defending the client who sought protection, they shield the corrupt lawyer, prioritizing loyalty to their own over the principles of truth and fairness they swore to uphold. This complicity in wrongdoing not only devastates the client but undermines the public’s trust in the entire legal system, allowing unethical lawyers to exploit vulnerable clients without consequence. When the institution tasked with ensuring justice enables abuse instead, who is left to protect the citizens of Quebec? It’s time for the Quebec Bar Association to choose: serve justice or perpetuate the rot within.
