DID YOU KNOW OF WIDOW BRAIN? Supporting Widows Beyond International Widows Day. In June, we commemorated International Widows Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the struggles and resilience of widows around the world. Lately, I have been reflecting on the immense challenges widows face as they navigate life while grieving, especially when they are left to care for their children amidst their own profound loss. The journey of a widow is often filled with a unique and overwhelming burden. Balancing the roles of sole provider, caretaker, and grieving spouse can feel insurmountable. The cognitive fog known as "widow brain" described as the cognitive impairment and emotional fog that many people experience after the death of a spouse. Widow brain is characterized with difficulties in concentration, memory, decision-making, and other cognitive functions. This often makes it hard to complete routine tasks or think clearly. It is a natural process for anyone who has gone through a significant loss and varies depending on an individual. In thinking about these incredible women, I am reminded of the importance of community support. Offering a listening ear, assisting with daily chores, and providing emotional encouragement can make a significant difference. It's about showing patience, compassion, and understanding, helping them realize they are not alone in their journey. Let us continue to honor and support widows, not just on International Widows Day, but in our every day. Rome was not build in a day an old phrase though commonly said but heavily endowed. And though was not build in day, it was not built alone. Having shut down my classroom teaching to pursue fully the non-curriculum education. My 1st action was to advocate the new widows exploitation that's growing rapidly. It is the socio-economic exclusion found in government and donors. With over 3 decades of widowhood life experience to which I have spent 1 decade of it in advocating for widows empowerment. I know that the new widows abuse growing requires attention to nip it at the bud. The real issue to be addressed is widows inclusion and that it's the responsibility of the government to capture and include widows. You see this picture, I never saw it coming but it was God's action to put a seal to the message; the number inclusion "widows must be allowed and used to drive and champion their cause" Thank you Rose Sawart, together with women and men of Africa we will will build widows agenda coming out 2025 at TAWS2025, and it will be part of the Africa We Want Agenda My name is Hope follow me and TAWS - The African Widows Summit and introduce me to widows of your country in my continent as I drive the widows voices across #Africa to ask and see the end in "sin of omission" through inclusive policies and initiatives. #tigf
