This is an exciting new solution for convergence monitoring from Emesent, combining the accuracy of Hovermap scans with the ease-of-use of our convergence monitoring workflow in Aura. Instead of spending hours manually cutting up segments of a drive scan to align them, our workflow aligns them automatically in one go with a non-rigid slam alignment and compares the scans to produce a heatmap of changes. Following surface blasting, Emesent partner Dwkya Mining Services was contracted to assess the geometry and volume of a cavity that was exposed in a client’s open pit. The void posed a significant safety risk to personnel and equipment. A combination of drones, AI, and planning software is an excellent fit, especially for monitoring and managing floor levels so that planning can track and plan accurately, allowing operations to execute the plans and maximize productivity. If for example a truck cycle time is approximately 40 minutes, but the floors are uneven, the cycle time may easily be 45 minutes because the operator must be more cautious and drive slowly. 290t truck capacity times 60/45 minutes is 378t per hour. 290t truck capacity times 60/40 minutes gives 435tph, a 57 tph differential that adds up over a year. 57 × 21 effective hrs/day x 363 days = 434,511t, representing approximately 12% of the truck's annual production. So, if you had a fleet of ten trucks running at this level of efficiency, you could meet your tonnage target with one fewer truck. This translates to approximately 12% less fuel, 12% less labor, 12% less maintenance and tires, and 12% less capital cost for replacement. All as a result of one factor among many; Even pit floors.
