https://lnkd.in/gJWN-7P7 Rio tinto has added 300 th AHS(Autonomous haulage system) truck in their fleet. where we stand now.? how many AHS added in our mining fleet towards digitisation or automation of fleet management system in our mining industry we are far far behind in digitally transforming our mining sector as because we lack the following - mindset shift which includes profit to purpose hierarchies to network controlling to empowering planning to experimentation privacy to transparency - donot have enough data on mining sector - utilization of data -lack in cultuaral shift - lack of proper regulatory support. - perception factor of thinking value addition or digitization as negetive factor in capex/ opex.

Epiroc to acquire remaining 66% of ASI Mining Epiroc, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and construction industries, has agreed to acquire the remaining share of ASI Mining, the US-based #autonomousmining solutions company. Epiroc already owns 34% of ASI Mining, which it acquired in 2018. The acquisition regards the remaining 66% of the company. ASI Mining is based in Mendon, Utah, USA. The company, a subsidiary of Autonomous Solutions, Inc. (ASI), is a leading provider of #mining #automation systems, such as #remotecontrol, #teleoperation, and #fullyautonomous solutions. Its solutions are #OEMagnostic, meaning they work regardless of machine brand and fit well for mixed fleets. The solutions strengthen mine safety and productivity while lowering emissions and total cost of operation. #ASIMining had revenues of about MSEK 300 in 2023. “#Epiroc and the innovative team at ASI Mining are already collaborating closely to bring the most advanced automation solutions to mining customers,” says Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO. “We look forward to complementing their solutions fully with our offering and together continue supporting customers on their automation journey.” The acquisition of the remaining share requires regulatory approval from US competition authorities, and is expected to be completed in the third quarter 2024. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price as the transaction is not subject to a disclosure obligation pursuant to the EU Market Abuse Regulation. The transaction will lead to a positive revaluation effect of the ownership held prior to the acquisition in the segment Equipment & Service. The gain will be reported as an item affecting comparability in the third quarter 2024. #futureofmining #mineofthefuture #AHS

Swedish-Chilean cooperation in the mining industry is deepened by signing a Memorandum of Understanding It is a fruitful collaboration that has now been continued, when Swedish Mining Innovation and CODELCO – Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile, the leading mining company in Chile, have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). - We are both mining nations and already have bilateral agreements on sustainable mining between Chile and Sweden. Now we fill it with substance. We really see this as valuable, says Tomas Wiklund, Sweden's ambassador to Chile. There is a deep historical connection between the countries, which will now be filled with concrete content through the cooperation agreement. - Despite the geographical distance, the countries are close in many other ways, which is a good basis for cooperation. We have particularly good bilateral relations between Sweden and Chile. Both historical and future, in sustainability and innovation. Now the collaboration is strengthening further, says Tomas Wiklund At the signing, which took place in the presence of high-ranking representatives from both Sweden and Chile, Felipe Lagno, Innovation Manager at Codelco, expressed his delight at signing the agreement. - We are very happy to sign this MoU. This type of collaboration is very important to meet the challenges the mining industry is facing. We will work together with Swedish companies, to make mining better for the world, says Felipe Lagno. Charlotte Andersson from Swedish Mining Innovation is satisfied with the collaboration and looks forward to it reaching the next level. - We at Swedish Mining Innovation are very happy to continue this collaboration. We signed the last MoU in 2020 and since then we have made a lot of progress, says Charlotte Andersson who signed the documents with Susanne Rostmark, LKAB, and Anders Sand, Boliden. The cooperation is facilitated by Business Sweden. – I am pleased to see that the Memorandum of Understanding is now officially signed. Business Sweden remains committed to continue supporting this collaboration, and we anticipate two years of dynamic cooperation, says Jesper Bernhardsson, Trade Commissioner of Sweden to Chile and Country Manager of Business Sweden. The new Memorandum of Understanding between Swedish Mining Innovation and CODELCO – Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile is seen not only as an agreement between two companies, but as a step towards creating a more sustainable and efficient mining industry, not only in Sweden and Chile, but globally. With a shared vision and commitment to innovation and sustainability, the parties look forward to addressing the common challenges facing the mining sector and working together to create a better future for the industry and society as a whole.

Epiroc rounds off 2023 well including major digital order Epiroc released its Q4 2023 results today, and the overall trend with regard to mining was very positive. International Mining Editorial Director Paul Moore caught up with Epiroc President & CEO Helena Hedblom. On the order intake increasing and positive mining results she stated: “I would say there has been good activity within #copper, #gold and #ironore; we saw a 13% organic increase on equipment orders and we have won several large equipment deals in the quarter. But also the #parts and #servicebusiness is going strong within mining so we are up 6% organic there. We also have good development on consumables towards mining." Three orders are cited in the Q4 results. One is significant as it does not relate to machines, but instead to #digitalsolutions. Epiroc has won a multi-year order, its largest ever for digital solutions, from the mining company CODELCO – Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile. The package of advanced digital solutions will strengthen safety and productivity at the #ElTeniente copper mine. The five-year project is valued at about MSEK 250, and the first phase was booked in the fourth quarter 2023 at a value of about MSEK 50. Is it significant that this is a standalone digital deal? And is interest in #collisionavoidance a part of what is driving that? Hedblom told IM: “Yes we are starting to see more digital focused tenders coming out from customers. These are now often separate from the machines and cover a broad suite of digital solutions that our customers need...looking at collision avoidance specifically, now we have a Level 9 solution we are seeing good interest and demand from many parts of the world now because the technology is available to improve safety very significantly in mining operations. We think collision avoidance will play a really central role, together with automation.” VP Electrifiation at Epiroc Jérôme Cloué also had some interesting insights in a late 2023 Electrification webinar on Epiroc battery machine uptake. Interestingly Epiroc saw a two times higher average BEV utilisation rate for 2023 versus 2022 which it said was indicative of the machines moving from trial phases into full production with the early adopters. As of end September 2023, Epiroc said it had 28 BEV sites globally, up from 25 in April 2023, plus there was a Batteries as a Service contract with 80% of the units. The number of recurring orders was up to 10. #futureofmining #theelectricmine #mineofthefuture
