Sweeping a problem under the carpet never ends well. Carbon capture and storage (#CCS) proposes to do just that. It will require huge public funds to be viable, which could be better spent developing #cleantechs, and is designed to perpetuate the life of #fossilfuels. As this project highlights, it also risks major natural resources such as water on which we all depend. The upside may be lower #emissions, but at what cost?

It signifies a threat—a threat to our climate, our biodiversity, our wildlife, and the very air we breathe and water that we drink. It is a decision that could irreversibly damage our environment and undermine the progress we've made towards sustainability. I urge each of you to join hands in this fight. Let us raise awareness, mobilise our community, and demand a reconsideration of this harmful project. Let us call upon our leaders to prioritise renewable energy sources and sustainable development initiatives that will benefit our community in the long term. Together, we can make a difference.
