The floating liquefaction natural gas (FLNG) platform is about to enter the gas production site of the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim GTA field. The floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) platform is about to cross the common border between Mauritania and Senegal on its way to its final destination, the GTA field facilities. At the same time, the floating production and storage unit (FPSO) is about to enter the port of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands of the Kingdom of Spain, where it will undergo the necessary technical checks before being integrated into the GTA field's facilities system. The arrival of the FLNG liquefaction vessel at the production site and its definitive integration into the facilities system represent a historic moment in the GTA gas production project, which is now more than 90% advanced. The GTA project will thus have reached advanced stages of component integration in preparation for the start-up of gas production.
Great to see this development getting closer and closer to the finish line after multiple challenges. Congratulations to both the counties - Senegal and Mauritania, operator bp and partner Kosmos Energy Waters off Senegal - Mauritania hold multiple other natural gas discoveries - BirAllah, Orca, Yakaar and Teranga. The GTA development itself holds a large potential as opposed to the combined 5 million tpa capacity of both the phases combined. Bringing this gas online and developing the region as a gas hub catering to both domestic and international markets should be something the administrations should focus on, going forward.
Addendum Please note the FPSO is about to enter in the port of Tenerife Canaries Island, Spain 🇪🇸 not in Tananarive (Capital of Madagascar 🇲🇬)
A great moment that is long outstanding. Congratulations to BP Team, hoping the upcoming production phase will significantly impact on local welfare and economic growth.

9moGTA is a challenging project and the successful achievement will positively impact the development of others promising discoveries in the Mauritanian offshore. Hopefully, the exploration activity will increase to test several petroleum systems and variable traps well defined by wide 3D coverage.
