In this post-election moment, it is important to remember the power of the private sector and subnational actors. The America Is All In coalition comprises businesses, NGOs, cities, municipalities, and states committed to reducing GHG emissions in compliance with the Paris Agreement. The collective impact of this group as a percentage of the total U.S. population, GDP, and GHG emissions is significant and will continue to advance U.S. climate goals. Metrus Energy has been a proud America is All In member since 2018.

Greece and Israel signed Monday an agreement to promote regional energy stability and projects in the Eastern Mediterranean. Greek Environment and Energy Minister Theodoros Skylakakis and the Israeli Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Eli Cohen signed the agreement in Athens, Greece’s Energy Ministry said in an emailed statement Monday. “The agreement with Israel constitutes an important milestone in the cooperation between the two countries on energy issues and holds much in store for the future, as both Greece and Israel face the impacts of the climate crisis,” Skylakakis said in the statement. The cooperation between the two countries includes a project to link Israel’s power grid to the EU via Greece.

🚨 Europe is falling behind on climate goals – time for action! Today’s State of the Energy Union report exposes a growing gap between ambition and reality in the EU’s climate and energy policies. Member States are lagging behind the renewable and energy efficiency targets, which poses serious risks not just for the climate, but for Europe's economy. 🔑 The solution? At EEB we’re calling for: ✅ Stricter enforcement through national and EU task forces monitoring progress on renewables, energy savings, and emissions cuts. ✅ An EU energy agency to provide transparent, reliable data and help keep EU countries accountable. Failure to deliver this transition on the ground will have real social and economic consequences, especially with carbon pricing set to raise fossil fuel costs by 2027. 📎 Find out more in our press release: https://lnkd.in/eqixQzUv

I'm excited to speak at PKEE Conference - Energy Day 2024 in Brussels this coming Monday, December 9th! I’ll be joining the panel discussion on "Storage: A Key to Boost the Rollout of Renewable Energy", a topic that’s critical as we transition to a decarbonized power sector. The rapid growth of renewable energy underscores the urgent need for greater grid flexibility. With the adoption of the EU Electricity Market Design reform earlier this year, member states are now tasked with submitting flexibility needs assessments by 2026 and setting national objectives for non-fossil flexibility solutions, such as energy storage and demand-side response. This is a strong signal: achieving the EU's renewable energy and decarbonization targets will require a significant investment in storage and flexibility technologies. For example, Poland recently secured €1.2 billion to support 5.4 GWh of storage capacity—a promising step, but only a fraction of what’s needed for a full energy transition. I’m looking forward to sharing insights and discussing how Europe can accelerate the deployment of storage solutions to meet these ambitious goals.
