Here are three ways to promote equity in water safety: 1. Accessible Swim Education: Engage communities to understand the importance of water safety as a life skill by providing multilingual resources, financially accessible swim lessons, and making water safety education inclusive for everyone. With this, we honor Dr. King's legacy and address a critical aspect of social justice – equal access to life-saving skills and resources. 2. Community Partnerships and Sponsorships: Collaborate with community stakeholders and organizations to extend water safety initiatives to more communities, aligning with Dr. King's vision of community welfare and social justice. 3. Diversify Representation in Water Safety: Ensure water safety messaging and instruction include diverse voices and faces, embracing Dr. King's dream of a unified society where every individual, regardless of background, has the opportunity to be safe and thrive. Water safety is not just a matter of public health but also of social equity. Unforgettable our history is important in every area. Baseball like swimming and Aquatics in the African American Community has a gold star history and unsung heroes. Access is what is required. But opportunity should not be based on qualifying variables that all groups can’t attain due to “Fear of loss”. POOLS WERE BUILT TO SAVE LIVES THROUGH THE LENS OF PUBLIC HEALTH, and were free for all. FIELDS ARE FILLED WITH DREAMS. Swing away!
