As a big footy fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the NRL Grand Final on Sunday! Congratulations to the Penrith Panthers for winning their fourth consecutive premiership! You might be wondering why I'm bringing this up here, but bear with me—I've noticed some parallels between the Panthers' success and lessons we can apply in our corporate lives, whether you're an employee or employer. Here's what I took away: 1. Never get complacent. Despite winning four in a row, the Panthers play each season like it's their first shot at the title. We should always strive to be better versions of ourselves, regardless of our past successes. 2. Build a lasting framework. Despite losing several key players since their first premiership in 2021, the Panthers maintained their dominance. As businesses, we should focus on long-term goals, even if it means short-term sacrifices. 3. Invest in key personnel. The Panthers have kept key players in critical positions for the past five years, leading to their consistent success. In business, identifying and investing in key talent and building strong teams around them can create long-term value. 4. Stay humble and grounded. The Panthers' players seem down-to-earth, and it's a reminder for all of us: no matter how high we rise, humility is key. Success should never lead to arrogance. There's a lot we can learn from champions, whether on the field or in the workplace! P.S. – Just to clarify, I'm not a Panthers fan, and this post isn't coming from a place of club loyalty. Just sharing some observations!

That’s a powerful quote! It encapsulates the essence of leadership as a service to others rather than a focus on oneself. It’s a great reminder for leaders to approach every interaction with a mindset of empathy, support, and empowerment. “Leadership is not about me; it’s about them. Each day, before a team meeting or a one-on-one, remind yourself of this truth. Just as Alan Mulally led Ford through a transformative turnaround with a focus on team collaboration and clear communication, true leadership revolves around understanding, supporting, and elevating others. By keeping the focus on your team’s needs and growth, you set the stage for authentic connection and impactful leadership.”

Thought for the Day: Celebrate the Wins "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate." - Oprah Winfrey Today marks a significant milestone in a project at work. It’s taken us over a year to prepare for and multiple years before that leading up to this step. In practice, the change will be minor. There’s little risk and multiple contingency plans if something should go wrong. But the significance of the moment is huge. You could sense the heightened levels of energy the last week as the team ran through what was about to take place. We were all doing what we could to ensure that nothing was missed. The level of scrutiny from our leaders had reached hyperdrive. As we wrapped up our preparations and space opened up in our days. The meetings leading up to this milestone came off the calendars and were replaced with new meeting. Our time and focus quickly shifted to all the remaining work that is still to come (there’s a lot of it). In fact the majority of my thoughts this morning are not about the accomplishment in front of us, but about the next problem we need to solve. It’s on to the next thing because there’s always a next thing. There will always be another problem to solve or another milestone to strive for. Striving towards something has a ton of value and merit, but if we do that at the expense of celebrating the wins along the way we miss the point. Take time to celebrate when things are worth celebrating. Acknowledge the work that has been done before we move on to the next one.
