Horribly unscrupulous Solar Salesmen/women: Predatory "Door Knockers" lying their ass off for a sale, no matter who they hurt. The sasddest existence I can imagine. https://lnkd.in/gjGTPTMv I'm not just cherry picking either. (as a kid, did pick cherries in Hartford, Michigan though) I've never supported Government funded rebate programs (with illiterate Administrators). The PRIVATE MARKET will adopt it, if Government gets out of the way. The solar businesses have failed miserably, and who picks up the tab? YOU, of course. Roof mounted solar over asphalt shingles is the worst. For sake of argument: Solar panel (at great expense) CREATES 20% energy as a PLUS (much less at the outlet). Asphalt shingles (concentrated energy form), easily reaching temperatures of 170 degrees F. This CREATES a heat BURDEN of 20%. For a net POSITIVE of 0%. Silicon, under IDEAL LABORATORY CONDITIONS has an ultimate efficiency of 33.16%. https://lnkd.in/gqhcN38H Ultimate efficiency[edit] Traditional single-junction cells with an optimal band gap for the solar spectrum have a maximum theoretical efficiency of 33.16%, the Shockley–Queisser limit .[13] I believe the future is in Nuclear, and Graphene. You guys are going to crucify me for saying these things, but you're welcome to present fact based arguments, and I'll reply.. Before you comment, please review the source material I've provided. I have seen time and time again how politicians create policies that significantly shape the economic landscape, impacting rates and the financial burden borne by rate payers. "The nature of this rate increase from Eversource should be a wakeup call to the Governor, PURA Chairman Gillett, and my Democrat colleagues in the legislature who seem to revel in passing mandates and taking populist potshots at utilities," #seetheopportunityineverydifficulty #CT #connecticut #utilities #govenerlamont #CTpura https://lnkd.in/gif-t76F

Former Chairman and CEO Illinois Commerce Commission • Vice President Government and Industry Relations • Board Member • Advisor
"At least 1 million US homes are at risk because of something most Americans don’t have much knowledge about: dangerous power quality. Interviews with more than two dozen experts, along with exclusive data, public reports and regulatory filings, paint the picture of a country dealing with power quality that’s rapidly worsening, with potentially deadly consequences. These issues have existed for decades, with grid operators responsible for minimizing and controlling the danger. But as the US grid comes under increasing stress, the problems are getting much worse. “Waltham, [where a home burned down due to a power surge], is significant and a horrific example of what bad power quality can do,” said Jon Wellinghoff, former chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission who’s now chief executive officer of consultant GridPolicy Inc. “The same thing could happen in Chicago or Houston or San Francisco or a myriad of other communities where poor power quality exists.” Stress on the nation’s electric grids is accelerating at an unprecedented clip. Demand is climbing just as aging infrastructure strains under the massive overhaul needed to adapt to renewable energy. This convergence is making it harder to maintain safe, reliable power quality, and some regulators and utilities aren’t tracking the problem. It’s an issue that has a potential national price tag of hundreds of millions of dollars, if not more." https://lnkd.in/g-Tbb_i8

Check out this powerful op-ed by NRECA’s Jim Matheson on how "Our Broken Energy Policy Could Leave Americans in the Dark." Read more: https://ow.ly/mcST50QonHZ "Over the next five years, NERC forecasts that all or parts of 19 states from Montana to Louisiana are at high risk of rolling blackouts during normal peak conditions. And most of the country faces similar risk when demand for electricity spikes during exceedingly hot or cold temperatures." - Jim Matheson, CEO of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association #GridReliability #PublicSafety #UsageMatters #YourTrustedEnergyPartner

After Winter Storm Uri, the Texas Legislature asked the Public Utility Commission of Texas to revise the standard it uses to determine whether the state's electric grid (ERCOT) is reliable. The Commission responded by proposing a multi-metric reliability standard—one that defines "reliability" not just in terms of the frequency of outages, but also the maximum tolerable duration and magnitude of these events. In our comments, we supported the Commission's overall approach and suggested two additional ways the Commission could strengthen its proposal. Read more here ⬇ https://lnkd.in/g_38BHGP
