The legal profession is amoung many Australian workplaces which would benefit from how the inclusion and diversity space has pivoted in the last 5 years. Balancing Work and Life: A Rewarding Challenge This week has been a whirlwind of productivity and purpose. 1. Year Up National Alumni Board: Engaged in dynamic discussions with the planning committee about our upcoming summit. 2. **LaughingLadiesEmpower Event**: Collaborated with my event coordinator and decor expert to plan my first women's empowerment event in July. Bringing this vision to life is incredibly fulfilling. 3. **Workplace Rights Workshop**: Had insightful meetings with the Board Chair and Vice President to strategize an impactful workshop. Empowering others with knowledge about their rights is crucial. 4. **Leadership and Community Service Call**: Connected with fellow Year Up alumni to discuss leadership and community service. These conversations always leave me inspired and motivated. Balancing these activities while managing day-to-day responsibilities is challenging, but it’s a challenge I embrace wholeheartedly. In this urgent context, various approaches emerge, each with profound implications for individuals and the broader corporate landscape. While the top-down corporate culture change approach, led by executive leadership, offers the potential for transformative change, its success depends on genuine commitment from leadership, as superficial efforts risk diluting the integrity and durability of intended reforms. Conversely, the bottom-up grassroots approach, driven by passionate employee advocacy and community building, presents an appealing alternative. Although progress may unfold more gradually compared to top-down approaches, grassroots efforts empower individuals to take charge of the equality and inclusion agenda, fostering a culture of inclusivity and empowerment from within. I choose to visit schools in Harlem, schools in Detroit, schools in New Orleans -- go to wherever there are PEOPLE that are left out (which is everywhere) and support them in everyday they need to become what they want to be. I believe in first starting with telling them"you can do anything and I'm I'm going to help you" I opt to support the individual. Providing them directly with the resources they need to be authentic and achieve their aspirations. While we wish success to those who choose to invest in broader corporate culture change, we fear that much of their investment may end up in the coffers of large corporations and expensive consultants, with only a fraction reaching the disenfranchised. 2/2
