𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝....𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝....𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨 ? During a recent photo session for my socials before the big event, a sudden family call led to an unexpected candid shot. Over the next few days, I found myself reflecting on this word’s deeper meaning. It struck me how “Candid” mirrors my approach to challenges: “𝗜 𝗖𝗔𝗡” and celebrate the success with the confidence “𝗜 𝗗𝗜𝗗” This revelation was both surprising and inspiring. It’s incredible how a seemingly random photograph can spark such invaluable life learnings. (Don't know about others, but for me it is! Definately) Capturing the candid moments in life sometimes become memories to remind us that genuine success is often born from unexpected and unplanned circumstances. Being creative, producing new images in a diligent and organized way, is one of the surprising challenges I've found since I took up serious photography. Yes, you can rest on your laurels, polish the website now and then, and hope that what you are doing will keep you interested. However, I believe that is a great way to lose interest and become enamored with the other shiny things going on around you. This year I've challenged myself to produce just two new images a day. One will highlight my interest in action photography, the other I've labelled as blue marble work - those images that take me out into everything else the world has to offer. That is actually a lot of new images. Ansel Adams famously said that a dozen outstanding new images a year is a good crop. I think that is still valid even in the digital world, and perhaps it is even harder to get those distinctive shots when you can create a few hundred in a matter of minutes. Having said that, it takes a lot of "pretty-good" photos to work your way up to those outstanding versions that you haul out when people ask you to show your best. I think there are a couple of images with real potential in the February crop highlighted in the attached video. Those will make it to the website and online galleries. The search, and the work, goes on.
